Four Testers Wanted for Historical Battle

There is a historical battle that I dearly wish to complete. Due to the difficulties and limits of scripting it is being made a four-person multiplayer battle only - you could play it as a single player battle, but don't expect the AI to behave with any sense of logic.

The criteria for this testing is very stringent. If the battle is to be multiplayer it should have a fair sense of balance between the forces on the field, although one side will be more difficult than the other.

EB Beta testers have priority in choice, but fans who have made a good showing of themselves on the board have a high chance of being accepted. First come, first serve is not a qualification.

Wolfman brought up a good point. Should we use hamachi or gs? I don't care either way, but gs might be simpler as everyone might not have hamachi.

Is gamespy that bad? I've never played multiplayer so whats wrong with gamespy.

Games crash a lot, it's a lot slower, and in general you waist a lot more time with gs than over lan (using hamachi).

i really wont go back to hamachi as it ****s my game and i cannot play normal mp cause of errors from hamachi :no:

You just have to uninstall hamachi to play gs, and then install it back again when you want to use lan. But I don't care either way. Let's just try to reach an agreement.

EB .81 worked for MP, but 1.0 doesn't seem to.

One of you has given the others his map.rwm, so they are identical? You can check with the validation tool to see which files are different in your builds.

Yeah guys, don't be so quick to give up. I worked too damn long on that battle to have something like this stop it.

We'll figure it out. And since Bovi is a bug-killing god not much can stop us.

Doesn't using minimods affect the compatibility between you guys?

First things make sure of the map.rwm thing but the only reason why it can be different is because you don't have the same files...

Minimods will screw it up, I'm sure. The validation tool output should be identical for all of them.

I have a separate install for my modded game. The other is a clean copy of 1.0. I think it's the same for everyone else. If any of you guys have mods on your copy, then speak up now so we can eliminate them then try again. But if we all have clean copies, then I'm sorry but it doesn't work as it is.

On a side note, is this battle meant entirely to be an MP battle? I thought I saw a script file...and script is unnecessary in MP battles I would think. Will there be an SP version made?

Also, I think I'll open it up in the battle editor and look around. I've got to see this thing. :egypt:

Okay, to everyone. Install a clean new folder in your Rome - Total War folder called 'ebmp', no fixes, nothing.

Just re-name your current EB folder and extract a new one from the installer with 7zip.

we worked on a scripted sp version, but even with heavy scripting AI behavior is really really pitiful. i hope this works, because the battle map and setup and everything is really cool.

Well, I can only speak for Wolfman and myself.

The first was away for quite some time, and I never really heard anything afterwards, after some trouble trying to get it all to work. I just forgot about it.
