attcking Portigal

I am the ruler of the Islamic nation to the South of Portigal. I defeated the first army and then there was a revolt. Now I could except 1 or 2 revolts but 5 is just rediculuse. they are all right after the next.whats really rediculuse is that the revolting armies keep getting bigger and they keep getting horsemen and speermen.
wouldnt it make since that after the initial take over and then the following revolt peasents would be the only thing to spawn. I mean you wouldnt expect to see any organized armies after one or two revolts. Well im wondering alittle.

Is this supposed to happen or is it a bug and if its supposed to happen how do I get them to stop revolting

Portugal is always a pain in the ass, they revolted many times for me, I simply moved a couple of hundred spare archers (I trained to many, and now I stand with more than half my army as missile troops) and shot the damn peasants as they tried to cross a valley that seems to exist on the Portugal map, I renamed it "The valley of death", i am sure it was atleast 500 peasants who died down there!

Don't invade Portugal unless you're prepared to fight. Same goes for Papal States and Scotland.

I've amanged to hold Portugal from the time I took it, but I never raise the taxes beyond Normal, and always keep a full banner on it, usually made up of peasants. Oh, and be nice to the rebels you defeat and always release them all no matter how mad at Portugal you are. It takes some hand-holding, but soon enough you'll be cranking out the Florins from trade with that province.

A high dread general would'nt hurt either, and put a few of your own spies in there and maybe build a churh and you should be fine.

... i had this problem with Scotland, so i got myself IHA(Instant Highland Armies) for a couple thousand florins a piece some of the time, and FHfG(Free Honour for Generals) the rest of the time...

Also if you make a general with loyalty to Spain or whoever it seems to make them revolt more or it did in my game as Spain.

Leeve a garrison of 2 Urban militia units, watchtowers, borderforts and about 7 spies, you wont get any rebellions.

had managed to take out the almohads and spain with the argonese...

i leave portugal alone because i dont really wanna bother putting effort into keeping it, and i knew it'd revolt, and spain would show up again with a huge army..

so i leave it alone for like ten turns after i kill of spain..

then blam suddenly out of nowhere comes a huge spain army, which beats up the rebels and takes the province

didnt have any armies there, was busy killing egypt's hordes...

ruined the map..
