:help: :help: :help: hello! i started another imperial campaign with my favorite faction, the julii. i think this is my fourth campaign with them. i do alternate expansion routes, but in every campaign i played, the egyptians always becomes a superpower with their endless armies. i'm fed up always fighting with them in the end game. so this time, i modded the campaign map...
i edited the starting location of some factions

here's what i did:
1. the julii started in the former egyptian settlements.
2. i placed the britons at the gates of rome [eturia and umbria] plus i gave them apollonia
3. i placed the egyptians in the british isles

the problem is, when i had my imperial palace, marius didn't show up.
i thought that maybe marius will show up if someone in italy will build an imperial palace. so i sent a spy to check if there is any imperial palace there.
to my dissapointment, i found out that rome has already an imperial palace and still, marius wouldn't show up. so i quit the game and tried to play as the scipii using the same modded gave. i used the add_population and add_money cheat to test if marius would show up if i build an imperial palace.
and he did show up. any ideas why on my julii campaign would marius no show up? i have even added the hidden resource italy in the egyptian lands.

i'm playing rtw 1.1

thanks in advance for the help:2thumbsup:

first of all ... get the latest patch as anything I now say may be untrue as everything is based on the latest version and pretty much everyone is on it afaik ..

afaik Rome doesnt have the resource italy, though adding it where you want isnt an issue, you just have to remember to delete the "map.rwm" file and let the game generate a new one and most likelly start from a fresh campaign
(you can give the entire map italy as resource and just have the reforms kick in once a Roman has a huge city *somewhere*, or call it something else and .....)

Yeh basically for Marius one of the Roman factions needs to build an imperial Palace in a cty with the hidden resource Italy. I think Rome does have that resource bt it dosn't count, either because it also has the hidden resource Rome or because the Senate building the palace does not count.

So you building them as the julli in Egypt will not do it, with the set up you hav eyou either need to wait for the Scipii or Brutii to build 1 in Italy or Mod the game some more to include the hidden resource Italy in your new stating provences.

...because the Senate building the palace does not count.

You're right,Rome doesn't count. I played a brief campaign as the Senate (my descr_strat file has been modded to allow this) and when I cheated the city populace to huge level,no reforms.

Have you tried building an Imperial palace with the senate else where in italy?

As I'm not sure if its the Senate that doesn't count or Rome (I think its the latter as in vanilla there is practically zero chance of the Senate geting another city!)

I instigated the civil war and conquered Arretium,Ariminum, and Capua, then did the same, but still nothing.
Then I got to messing around in the Senate scroll, and caused the game to crash. After that,I switched them back to non-playable.

The Senate did actually take Arretium back from me once during a Greek campaign. So they will branch out if they have to.

Just so you know pressing the Senate tab when playing as the Senate will cause a CTD
