well after playing the game in expert mode from 1200, as England, i had managed to conquer England, France, Spain, Africa, palestine, the Baltic, the HRE and the Poles. Well thats about half the damn map. As my income is stagnant (war), the only thing ive been able to afford of late it spys which i use to cause rebellions and conquer my weakended enemies.

After conquering the middle east from spain, i get excommunicated, and as a result, one of my newly aquired proviences revolts. Its a revolt due to the fact that i was excommunicated, so seeing that i cant win against this rather large and well equiped revolt, i decide to abandon the provience. So i take out my armies and destroy everything, leaving it to the revolt. Next turn however i was shocked to see i still owned the provience, and to my surprise, the revolting armies...

For me this was what i needed, not only were they well equiped (2 cannons, 2 chivlaric knights, 4 Chivalric foot knight and the rest chiv sergeants), but i had a 6 star general... im just wondering if this is a bug, or am i just damn lucky..?

Woww, never seen that before. But that's good for u though. I wish that happened to me.
Anyway, I think it might be both bug and luck http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

Hmm... a similar thing happened to me - I bribed a rebel army but couldn't get enough troops to the province to quell the rebellion which happened the next turn. I gave the province up as a bad joke, and then prolly 20 turns later I discovered it had reverted back to my control, and the general of the rebel army who kicked me out was now on my side.

Thinking about it, i suppose it kind of makes sense for a rebel army thats sufficiently wowed by a player faction to say 'hey we could get so much more protection if we joined their side' and offer to pledge allegiance to you... would be nice to get a message about it tho'.

And Gentlemen in England, now a bed, shall think themselves accursed they were not here and hold their Manhoods cheap, whilst any speaks that fought with us upon Saint Crispines day.

its part bug part design.

Revolting unit armies get to choose from any of the factions that previously owned the province no matter for how short a time.

Theres a fix for it in the patch i believe.
