I've been having some problems when making a new campaign map. When I scroll around it I get all these insane planes of random colours and textures. Also it has patches of the map where it looks like red light is leaking out of it and it lags heaps just over these red light patches.

Here are some screenshots of the crazyness:

The 3rd one is an example of the red light that "leaks out" of the map.

Does anyone have any idea about what's wrong? Is it an alignment of the tga files. It got really bad after I started editing the ground types file, if that helps.

Please can someone save me from insanity!

On your ground types tga are you using legitimate colours, eg the same colours as on the original tga without any merging or blending? The pink normally comes from it not being able to find a texture corresponding to the ground type.

As for the other weird effects, not sure but RTW used to do that to me when I tried having a really huge region on the map. What size is map? and is eastern europe for instance just one region?

I'm using the largest possible map size, I think.
It's:
width 374
height 510

and yes I used a really huge region to start with and then slowly filled it in. I'm going to try redoing the ground type tga now. Thank you very much.

I don't know if you had read this yet, but it may help if you haen't: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=108484

No I hadn't read that, thanks. But isn't there an error in it. It says Beach - White (0, 0, 0)

Shouldn't that be 255, 255, 255?

Ok, I reset the ground types tga to the Medium Fertile one all over because I couldn't track down the single mistake. Now the crazy colours are gone. So you think that the red patches problem will just solve itself once I add more provinces?

It's possible. Even though you can make a big map but there is a maximum region size of which I don't remember.
