View Full Version : Vessels/Ships
When built what do u actually do with them?
Just leave them in the sea?
The first one stays in the sea area where it was produced. The second one will replace the first one and the first one will move to the next sea area. Continue on until I cover all coastal seas (early ship can only traverse on coastal water). After all seas are covered, the I start from the beginning again to strengthen the current fleet. This way, I can:
1. Have a long and profitable trade route.
2. See all coastal provinces where I have my ship in the sea.
3. Drop the army to invade when I see the opportunity.
So u just leave them in different parts of the ocean. And attck enemy ships?
Do these ships transports the goods across the waves that r in?As long as other have ports?
Yes any ship can transport troops, And do your Trade too. It gets stoped though if their is an enemy ship blockading you though.
The ships are pretty simple in the game. Thiers really nothing too them. Also the AI doesnt seem to build the higher up ships much anyway.
Cant see a reason in stackin them?
OR does it make them stronger as a unit if u have say 4 together?
+ and cons?
I apologise if this may sound a silly question, but how do I ACTUALLY use the ships for trade and transport?
I tried drag&droping the army token on the ship one - no effect..
I am cluless, please help me.
If you place them along the coast you can travel with them instantly. you have to have a unbroken line of ships.
A question now: How do you see how much trade they brings in?

You have to have the trading post, merchant's guild etc.. So I only build ports that have a commodity to trade. At first the trade is just local so it doesn't amount to much. When you get an unbroken chain of ships from your port to the port of another faction, who also must have commodities to trade, then you should see the increase on the economy parchment. Hold the cursor on the territories listed on this parchment and it breaks down your income into farming, trade, mines, etc... The best I've seen so far in my limited play has been Constantinople, Antioch, Portugal. If your playing in the early period it seems to take a while for any ai trading partners to develope. I would try the Italians and Byzantines as partners first though.

Check economic window of provinces and look at the trade window. There it will show how much was traded and with which provinces
Cant u trade with others if they only have a port?and not a tradin post?
AH! yes easy somethin i never thought of http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/eek.gif
Shiro, plz move this thread into PAF, unless someone takes up the discussion.
this is something that i heard people talking about but i never saw it happen:
2 ships of 2 countries in the same sea area: does this automatically lead to a fight?
i think it should be possible though to have 2 merchant ships of two different countries in the same sea area though; especially 2 merchant ships of countries that are allied to eachother/neutral.

Two ships in the same ocean will not provoke a fight.

Yes.
