Hello guys, I'm new here! I decided to post this topic to introduce myself, as well as ask some questions about Makedonian army compositions. First of all, I want to thank the EB team for this wonderful mod, which is without doubt the best RTW modification:yes:
On to the point: I have recently begun a Makedon campaign (H/M) with some minor mods and personal tweaks. I have decided to organise my armies and divide them according to their role. For example: assault armies for attacking fortificatins, regual Successor armies for fighting battles, skirmishing armies that accompany main armies ect. I would like to hear your oppinions about the composition of:
a) an assault army
b) a main successor army
c) a skirmishing army
d) your ideas
I am enjoying EB very much, though I'm not a rookie to either EB or RTW (have it since 2004 I think). I'm all ears!:beam:

Don't over-use phalangites. I usually have five phalanx units as the backbone of the main army.

Thaatu lies.

Start spamming Phalangitai, at least 15 in one unit. :P

No, just kidding, it's best to use Phalangitai, five units or something, supported with Prodromoi and Hetairoi and Thureophoroi/Thorakitai.

Aha, ok guys. I usually have 4 units of cav, 6 units of phalangitai, 4 units of flanking inf., 4 units of missiles and the other two either akontistai or some mercs

Yeah, my rule of thumb is 6 units of phalangitai, 4 thorakitai/theureophoroi, 2-4 heavy cavalry, 2 archers and 4-6 regional auxiliaries and/or mercs. Include at least 2 cavalry units that are "fast moving" so HAs don't entirely screw you.
