Gents:

Good afternoon from Canada!! I hope this finds you and yours well. As for me, I could complain...yadda, yadda, yadda.

In LTC, I'm playing as England in the 100 Years War section of LTC. Last night, as England, I had managed to kill a very persistent French princess who was being a pain in the butt with her constant demands that I, as England, become France's vassal. I finally had enough of her and put her out of my misery as I did with four heretics. The French king should learn not to put loved ones out on diplomatic missions during times of war.

Question for you gents: I'm having the worst time trying to squelch my citizens in Dublin and keep them tearing the town apart.

How do I go about this? Yes, I do have a governor in there, but he doesn't seem to be doing anything.

Last, but not least, a strategy hint: In order to protect your cities/citadels, send any extra generals out to build a fort and have any extra troops as their armies. That way, you can protect your main cities from any and all invading forces.

Live long and prosper, take care and thank you kindly!

Sincerely yours always,

Indy.

Let the town rebel and recapture it. Then execute those filthy peasants! Being dead greatly reduces one's ability to riot. :skull:

Your General may actually be reducing happiness. Check his traits, see if there's any that reduce law, popularity etc.

Did you exterminate the populace when you captured Dublin? Also check for high unrest, that usually means there is an enemy spy.

I've only ever had one city rebel on me, it was Milan in my Byzantine campaign. I just recaptured it an exterminated.

If it's already a Huge City then hands down the best way is to raise taxes to maximum, remove the garrison, and force them to revolt. Then you can sack the city to reduce the population (Improves order) and raise money.

If it isn't a huge city yet I'd be less quick to jump on that option. Definitely try taking the governer out, sometimes their traits make things worse. Also make sure the garrison is the max number of free units allowed, and build the city hall and/or brothel line of buildings.

Whenever I capture a settlement, I check the green/yellow/red (happiness) face icon before choosing whether to let the peasants live or whether I sack the place, looting it for every thing its got. In most cases if it is red or yellow I tend to always sack it. I never exterminate though because it takes too long for the population to grow back. (and I get a nice little pile of florins to add to my vaults when I sack :smash:)

As Caledonian mentioned you may have a spy in the settlement. Get one of your own in there and more often than not, that will get the enemy spy out.

Also try and make it a priority to build as many public order % improvement buildings as possible. ie. Bars, taverns, better walls etc, etc.

Also you may have high herecy (or possibly some other religion) in Dublin. If you do, the peasants will not like you because you are a catholic nation trying to impose this new belief system upon them. If this is the case, get 4 of your preists and possibly even a cardinal in there to improve things.

Lastly as was also mentioned, maybe your Governor/General is not well liked by the people because of his traits. Get a better General in to do the job if this is the case.

Good Luck. :2thumbsup:

Basically what everyone has said here.

1) Taxes to lowest
2) Kick out gov if he's a bad one
3) More troops
4) Build +happiness/law buildings
5) Increase religion%
6) Kick out spies

Your English and you want the Irish not to rebel. How unrealistic do you want this game to be?

The Tavern line of buildings can have nasty side affects though. They tend to give your General's traits that decrease their chivalry and you can end up with useless alcoholic characters pretty quickly. I only build Taverns etc if I need agents from the building.

TBH I don't mind a little rebellion once in a while, keeps the game fresh and interesting, and is good for immersion when its realistic in the case of Ireland.
