After recently getting high speed internet, i've decided it's high time I checked out some of the vaunted user created modules for Neverwinter Nights. However, since theres quite a lot of it, so i'm at a bit of a loss for where to start :sweatdrop: . Anyone here have any recommendations of any really goods mods?

NWvault has a nice list of good ones. Just look at the Hall of Fame ones

Personally, I can recommend A Dance With Rogues (18+ only, mind you. Lots of sex and rape, but one of the best roleplaying modules for female rogues), Twilight and Midnight (the single best module for finding out what a Paladin is really about), and A Hunt Through the Dark (if you want to play a drow in the Underdark).
To be honest, I have not enjoyed many NWN mods. They often seem either too short to be bothered with, or too clunky in terms of game mechanics (often with deliberately unbeatable fights etc) or just lacking the character/story/atmosphere thing that Bioware does so well. I usually download them and give up after an hour or two.
However, I did get tremendous enjoyment out of two mods - both of which I think are better than the NWN/NWN2 OCs and expansions.
The most substantial is the Shadowlords/Dreamcatcher series, which is quite gob-smacking. It starts out slow and rather unimpressive, as the modder learns his craft, but ends up with a pyrotechnic tour de force. The chap even gets you to play space invaders on NWN!!! :dizzy2: No wonder Bioware employed him on the strength of this work. But beyond the technical issues, it has a wonderfully epic story arc and even some nice long term NPCs that you can retain, and even romance. For me the series culminated in my lesbian marriage to a star child, but it was much less tacky than it sounds and rather sweet.
The other mod that knocked my socks off was the Crimson Tides of Tethyr. This is a single mod but again starts off rather slow and unimpressive, so you have to persevere beyond those first few hours. However, it basically takes your character off to join in a war and has a very moving backstory about the Crimson Tides mercenaries that you are fighting alongside. The twist at the end had me almost in tears about the fate of one protaganist (a paladin) - the emotion was getting so strong, I was saying to the computer "No, no, no..." as the awful truth was unveiled.

Wow. I can't recommend any mods other than the great ones already mentioned. You can narrow your search criteria depending on what type of gameplay you prefer.
Simply superb. :2thumbsup:
I didn't know they had that level of flexibility in Shadow/Dreams. A computer upgrade overwrote my save and I haven't attempted it again. ADWR was my favorite, but not in its current version, the one before was more polished.
I need to get out more. :sweatdrop:
