View Full Version : Bishops don\'t raise zeal?

As England, I wanted to raise the zeal of my - and my neighbours! - provinces prior to launching a crusade and so hired a couple of Bishops. Thing is they are doing nothing to the zeal of the provinces (Wessex and Flanders), they are in. I read in another post that inquisitors should be used for this. So what are the bishops doing when they "pray"? One is Thomas Beckett, a three-star bishop. I can't see any results.
Thanks for any advice,
Simon

Try inquisitor, grand inquisitor and may be cardinal. but don't let those inquisitor start killing people. Move them around.

Bishop and Cardinal convert people to Catholic/Orthodox.

Bishops arn't USA God Channel evangelists, they spread the word of god and ...... broker peace agreements.

Inquisitors burn someone and get everyone else to want to burn someone (or something in the muslim states). Thats their zeal value.

Based solely on observation, I've concluded that bishops don't raise zeal; they increase the Christian population. It's useful for counteracting Muslim amims in one's own provinces & for trying to convert Muslim provinces. As the Byzantines, I dropped three priests & a bishop in an Egyptian province & raised the Orthodox population to 49% in just a few years.

Thanks for all the replies - I was afraid that this was a RTFM query, but I feel such queries may be excusable with a game as deep as this one.
I've noticed Orthodox priests and the Islamic ones converting my population, but did not check to see what my priests were doing.
I'm going to check out the building requirements for Inquistors, as it sounds like that is what my crusaders need. Especially now my population have been distracted from the true faith by a lot of Arthurian froth!
Fun game!
