Put it on overnight. It takes a long time.

i also have a few questions about Tellos Athenios's installation guide.

1. after copying rome total war to a new folder as C:/program files/rome total war, will the patches download to both C;/program files/activision/rome total war and C;/program files/rome total war.

2. once eb is downloaded, will i browse and click ;/programfiles/rome total war, then add to that the eb download.

sorry if this is confusing

1. If you copy your Rome install folder and then try to install the patches they will only install to the original Rome folder (your computer wont know about the other folder). Because of this make sure you patch Rome up to 1.5 BEFORE you copy your install.

2. AFAIK EB installs to the same place as your Rome installation, and will work as above. So by default it will point to your original install, if you want to install it into a copied install rather than the original yes you will have to change where EB is installed.

Hope that helps

You can put it in C:\CRASH MY GAME\Rome - Total War\ and it wont affect the amount of CTDs you get.
Doesn't matter mate, whichever you prefer.

Not true. On Vista, keep RTW out of the Program Files folder. Anywhere else is good.

Is that so? :o
Why is that? (I don't disbelieve you just wondering mate!)

Well I have EB in program files on Vista.
I have experienced a few CTDs, but only one i couldn't get by the next time i started the game.
It should be written in the installation guide for us losers that use vista where to install it:laugh4:

There's this weird file handling of stuff that's installed under program files, it tends to corrupt something that RTW or EB needs, and hide files from among other things the validation program.

EB seems to be working fine so far on my Vista pc, installed under the Program files folder. I did try to install RTW into the Games folder, but when the game installed, it did what I eloquently described to my pc-savvy friend: "It's like somebody unloaded a full AK-47 clip into the RTW folder, hit it twice with an RPG launcher, and then finally called in a carpet-bombing air-strike on its location."

For those of us that don't know Call of Duty 4, then, in other words, it spread all of the individual files from the RTW folder around in the games folder, and not in the RTW folder itself. Needless to say, it doesn't make the game work....at all.

If one disables the user account control thinger on Vista, the game seems to work alright(so far).

Yeah, the UAC is the culprit. Still, UAC is in general a good idea, and this problem is easily worked around by not installing in program files.
