:help: I jsut installed EB today and started palying as the romans, i have only played about 20 turns but i noticed that the romans have white uniforms isntead of red...the hastati, principes and triarii all ahve like white uniforms and golden shields. I was led to the belief :book: that romans wore red uniforms and gold/silverish red shields such as i nthe movie gladiator. Do the uniforms get red as time progresses in the game or will they always have those white peasent colors, or did i make a mistake in installing the game.

camilian legions wore white because it was a part-time army until the Marian Reforms...you'll get those Red roman shields and clothing once you get marian reforms.

Red dye was too expensive for every common soldier. The red-all-over Romans is one of those Hollywood myths. Though, the Roman army did like the color red since it was the color of Mars.

Unless you edit the scripting, it'll be a while before you get Hollywood legions. Like 399 turns or something.

Well thats better news lol....i do like historical accuracy, but the white uniforms are a bit bland, could you tell me when marian reforms are? That other dude said turn 399 or something , im assuming he was exaggerating, i really wouldnt want to wait till 400 turns....is it around turn 100 or something?Could i manually go into the script and turn thsoe reforms sooner...just so i could get the marius reforms sooner:beam:

First off, welcome to the Forums. Second off, you really should check the FAQ thread it will aswer all the questions (hint look under the reform section). Lastly, you might want to look at the unofficial mod section I am sure someone has taken the time to remove those turn requirements.

The Polybian Triarri and Principes are also almost holywood red, you should get them at 242 bc. Just conquer Italy and Sicily:2thumbsup:
