I'm starting to become a real regular around here due to my curious nature to explore everything. So, I bought X-Plane, a serious flight simulator. It blocks when it loads, so the advice from the official forums is to update drivers.
Manual updating doesn't work, and the driver detection tool says my card has the latest drivers.
Any ideas? Maybe because it's a notebook chipset?

Restore checkpoint, download driver, PLACE ON FRIKIN DESKTOP, delete driver, restart, install driver, restart, laugh, rinse and repeat until this works.
EDIT: Wait, why won't deleting work? Didn't Lemur post something about Vista dying if you try to update a driver? If that's the case, just set up a virtual machine, dude.
Ehhh, I could install the official NVidia drivers just fine, that shouldn't be a problem in Vista, you can even switch drivers between those from NVidia and Microsoft without restarting , if it doesn't work then I suspect you have a dedicated notebook graphics driver thing or something else is causing the problem.

I had the same problem and it isn't the drivers or Vista. The problem to describe also happens with people running Nvidia 8800 - 8850 series cards. It also occurs with the new 9600-9800 series cards.
It is two or three small files that are button graphics in the game that some mods have already changed. If you dig around you can find that thread for problems with Nvidia 8800 cards and get that fix. Then MTW-VI will work just great with Vista

ASUS AQ5 Deluxe Mo-Bo
Nvidia 9600 card
Intel extreme duo-???? 3.0 gig processors
4 gig DDR2 Ram
Vista Home Basic OS
MTW works just fine
