View Full Version : Problems while trying to launch Multiplayer
Ok so me and my friend installed the EB1.0 and both were rly excited to get to try that on online. So when we went to Multiplayer section, friend made a server, I tried joining in using the right password I got message something like this (The differences are underlined):
"Hostexe: BarbarianInvasion1.5
Yourexe: BarbarianInvasion1.5
Hostmod: eb(ck:36AE5C80:0)
Yourmod:eb(ck:36AE5C80:5EF86F65"
Missed somelines but they were same with both of us. That's the only difference and those 8 letters ruin our playing together. These numbers really don't tell me what the exact problem is so if anyone of you would have the answers, would rly appreciate it.

I notice you are running it on the BI.exe. This suggests that some modding has been done to the original EB folder. We cannot help you there as any changes unless exactly the same on both machines will invalidate any attempt to play multiplayer.
However i do know that the map.rwm found in eb/data/world/maps/base/ must be the same for both computers. The map.rwm is a file generated from the .tga files in the base folder to create a map. However, how the game compiles the map.rwm is different for each computer (so even if the .tga files are exactly the same, a map.rwm file created on one computer won't exactly match one created on another). Take the map.rwm file on your computer and send it to your friend so he can overwrite his version.
This may or may not work, it depends on what other modding you have done to the base eb folder. Either way we don't support the modding of the game to run on BI so I cannot help you any further. The map.rwm is the only problem I know of that can cause problems for vanilla EB, so anything else is something that personal modding has brought in.

Actually I've done no personal modding for EB. Just uninstalled the old RTW and EB from my computer and installed RTW(not BI, I don't even have it, and I launch the game from the Desktop Icon that says EB10) to my computer, then 1.3 and 1.5. Then I just ran the EB file, so that includes no modding at all. I'll send my map.rwm file to him and let's see if it works. Thanks.

It's apparently some sort of checksum, and considering that you attempt to run it from a BI folder, it might just be that you've been copying/moving around some files? Settings? I don't really know - first I don't have BI, second I never attempted to do something with multiplayer RTW.

That's the thing, I dont have BI and haven't touch any files since I downloaded them from the CD.
So, did copying map.rwm work? Keep in mind that there are more of them lying around the structure, you may have put it in the wrong place.

Um, yeah just came back home. It didn't change anything when I sent it to my friend. Although could the way he installed have nothing to do with it, I mean I wasn't there don't know how he did it. Umm excuse me, what exactly are lying around the structure?
There are IIRC three map.rwm files in various places under the RTW and EB file structure. You need to have identical map.rwm files under <RTW>/EB/Data/world/maps/base. Also, use the validation tool to see what may be different between your installations.
