I am compiling a list of questions regarding MP, and will make a ginormous post with everything, hopefully making them release some sort of preview regarding TW MP, which of course they won't, but false hope is what drives me. Please contribute some questions, and I will add them to the list which I will post on the .com.

General Questions
• Will weather on multiplayer maps actually be customizable?
• Can we make our own multiplayer maps?
• Will players be allowed to play historical battles online?
• Will there be an online campaign?

Naval Battles

• Will there be a naval battle online component?
• How many players will be able to join a battle?
• How many ships will be able to take part in one battle?
• Will players be able to attack harbors and fortresses in online battles?
• What kind of adjustments can be made before starting an Online-battle?
• Will players be able to choose their ship by their own or will this be done by the hoster or do we have just fixed scenarios?
• What modes will there be for naval online format?

My Own Questions

• Will you be using Gamespy again?
• What aesthetic changes will be made in the lobbies?
• Will there be a performance/ping meter?
• Will there be an icon-flag indicating what country the player is from?
• Will there be multiple lobbies?
• Will there be an in game rating system?
• Will there be a friends list?
• Will there be a replay vault?
• Will there be an auto-patcher?
• Are there going to be any new modes for online play?
• Will hosts be able to set a maximum of unit categories before the battle. Ex. Artillery, Cavalry, Pike, Missile Infantry etc.?
• Similar to the previous question, will the host be able to limit use of upgrades?
• Will there be shared deployment zones?
• Will same factions be usable by both teams?
• How many players will be supported? Ex. 4v4 or 3v3 max?
• Will there be MP specific maps that are symmetrical?
• Will there the 'small' unit scaling be similar RTW to increase machine performance in larger games?
• Will currency be distributed by a team captain? For example 10000 florins/denari can be split up 4000-7000 to optimize certain aspects of the factions selected.
• What kind of community events can we anticipate?
• Will there be a position for a CA staff member or CA representative to organize activities?
• Will there be prizes for multiplayer events?
• Will there be an indicator of what version the hosted games are? Ex. People using mods, previous versions of the game, expansion packs etc?
• Will there be in game voice chat?
• Will there be observer slots?
• Will replays be viewable to people who do not have the game?

MP Community Contributions

• Will there be the option for having dedicated servers ?
• Will there be any open beta tests (MP area mainly) before the release?
• Will there be a proper black(bann)-list, where people actually stay banned?
• How is the online and/or in-game chat going to work?
• Will there be shortcuts for certain tactics or are we able to use more buttons than just the mouse and a few numbers on the keyboard?
• Do we have to register to play online? If no, will other people be able to use our name/nick/tag etc at the or at different times? If yes, do we need a gamespy ID?
• Is there going to be a feature that allows us to start quickgames with random people like in e.g. Age of Myhology?
• Is a CA staff member going to get in touch with the mp community to chat about things such as balance issues or bugs?

This post is in the wrong Subforum
It is an Empire: Total War MP Q&A post.

This is the M2TW MP Subforum.

Yes but this is a MP Q&A list, and I am opening this discussion to people who play M2TW MP. It wasn't a mistake that I posted this here.

If I posted it in the forum you suggested, then it would result in the same question being asked over and over: "Will there be an Online Campaign?"

Maybe we should post this on the .com, we'd get more attention there than here I guess, I doubt that CA looks over the mp section here on the .org.

I have a question too.

-Does CA have total control over etw or will they release it as an alpha stage game where they have no clue about what is going on for most of the bits, like they did with RTW and MTW?

Will you add an option to save an MP game and rehost it later, with the same people, it would be very useful for tourneys, so games are not destryed by someone has to go(for example if connection goes down or someone has to eat, go...)

Someone has to eat? You have eating higher priority than playing games? :D

Ye. Those were good days.

I used to host a 1v1 in the morning, start the pav battle and goto college. After coming home, I used to eat and sit back in front of the pc. After an hour or so melee used to start. Those pavs were tough! :laugh4:

stability has to be the atom of mp this time around.

the state of mtw2 mp would be laughable, if i didnt like the game so much and i didnt feel so offended by complacency on the part of the company

i had to go buy rome again yesterday just to get my fix

i just want this question asked and answered
