What the hell was he doing on Crete when Pyrhos attacked? was he trying to make an alliance? to conquer the island? what?
I mean if i were him i wouldn't go on a vacation when the best general since Alexander was wondering in vicinity of my kingdom

Well AFAIK Areus was sent to secure the position of the KH on Krete (certain Kretan towns had been allies for a while with various members of the KH; and others were rather more inclined to support Antigonos), and Pyrrhos really appeared at the time to have been rather more interested in claiming the Makedonian throne.

I believe Pyrrhos kept insisting up to the last minute that he was not in the Peloponnese to do any harm to Sparta. He claimed even that he wanted his son to go through the Agoge training.

Crete has always been a hotbed of pirate activity (even up to WWII) as it was then. Many pirates were in the employ of Antigonos and had been making life difficult for those opposing him. Areus was attempting to flush them out. I've also heard that he was trying to gather mercenaries.

I´m curious about that too, I don´t think I´ve seen a single useful post from Tom0. Not that this post is very useful either.

Yes, click on the user's name to go to his user profile, and then select "add user to ignore list".
