American Football is the best sport--followed by soccer. Baseball and pride/ufc are somewhat hit and miss.

American football by far...most likely because I play it. I play Defensive End and Tight End in case you were wondering.

Women. To watch and play.

Football on TV is a billions-of-light-years-back second.

No third. I don`t really like sports.

Beirut, wouldn't women be better described as a hobby rather than a sport? :beam:

Only football was worthy of a vote. In my case, nothing else is capable of
causing such irrational pain, distress, or euphoria

Watch tennis, and North American sports to varying degrees, but none could
ever have the same effect. Watch rugby with less interest than I do even
American football, it has to be said. [Even if it is national.] Watched the recent
superbowl and experienced a level of engagement that rugby all too often just
fails to evoke.

Please allow me to also mention cricket, for another reason. I would rather
watch 1,000 goalless Bolton - Blackburn derbies and subsequently have to claw
my own eyes out than be forced to watch or otherwise hear more than 10
minutes' enthusiastic discussion on that dross. I find darts truly rivetting by
comparison, and it is difficult for me to type such words. I am repulsed by
cricket. Terrible, terrible game.

[Like the television theme music though, even if it does trigger an allergic
reaction of sorts.]

American Football. I grew up with it, I play it; it's almost something I can't help. GO BILLS!

American Football all the way! :2thumbsup: It's about the only sport I really like, though. I can get into baseball in a small way if I'm watching it with someone who's a fan, but otherwise I don't care two licks about any other sport -- as a spectator, that is.

Participant-wise, I like American football (although I never played in school), volleyball, and bowling. Yes, I know bowling isn't a "real" sport, but I felt like including it anyway. ~;p

American Football, by far. As Decker said, Go Raiders! :7pirate:

I wouldn't necessarily say it's 'better' than other sports, but it's what I grew up with, played as a kid, and love. That's what sports are all about IMHO.

I also enjoy Hockey. Used to watch baseball, before they drained out all the life with strikes and pumped in all the 'roids for records. Can't stand basketball, mostly because of the unholy agony of spending 30 minutes and multiple commercial breaks on the last '30 seconds' of a game. Often even a game which isn't close at all gets dragged out meaninglessly into oblivion.

Which is one of my favorite things about non-US football, i.e. soccer. No messing around with time outs, pauses, and boring delaying tactics. They play. Maybe they don't score, but at least they're out there moving and making things happen.

Basketball. We experience more faints and ups and downs that in every other sport.

Has to be football, i can watch or play a few other sports with some interest but nothing comes close to football for the affect on my emotions whether im playing or just watching. Even if my team isn't playing i pick a team to support and when they score i find myself jumping round the room like a nutter.

and the poster whose name i can't spell without looking is completely right about cricket (and darts!) it is one of the most boring sports to watch!

GAH! What is this thing you call sport?

Is it something like when 22 grown men run around a field chasing a bag of wind? :clown:

And as for cricket, who said "The English, not being a spiritual people, invented to cricket to give them a sense of eternity"?

Female figure skating, female beach volley and female gymnastics...

When it comes to sports where the atheltical skills, technique and strategy is the focus of watching, I pick ice hockey :2thumbsup:

I would rather call them the social interaction counterpart to war, famine and genocide, all coming in the same package. Yet, irresistible... which makes you question your degree of rationality at times

They have basketball in Europe?!

Anyways, if you can watch American B-ball in Europe, try to watch the college games, which feature defense (!) unlike the NBA which is a lot of running back and forth scoring.

I second shooting. It's a really fun sport, and violent, just the way I like them. But to which one, I'd add a nomination for long range rifling, but speed pistol is good too, also trap shooting.

Proper football gets my vote! I play it all the time (its a great form of exercise, even if its just a kick-around with your mates) and support Tottenham Hotspur...Go spurs!!

Followed by American football...I do like it, but the constant stopping for adverts and time outs annoys me. Plus I think the superbowl this year was a dissapointment...Tom Brady? psssht I could throw better than he did that game.

Rugby is also good, fun to play...but a little boring to watch, i've not watched a game since the world cup final haha
