Does anyone know how to change the age at which someone is allowed to marry? also, does someone know how to change the age at which a family member comes of age?:inquisitive:

Should be found in the campaign_db.xml

Characters can marry when they are of age. Can't delay it further than that except in game by rejecting offers.

As for the second question, what alpaca said.

so then its hard-coded that family members cant, say, marry before they come of age?

so i tried editing the campaign_db.xml, i changed the age_of_manhood_uint and the age_of_consent_uint, but then when i played the game, there wasnt a difference, everything was the same. is there something else i need to change? also, does anyone know what the max_age_of_manhood_close_uint does? couldnt figure that one out...:inquisitive:

age_of_manhood is when you get a male character coming of age. age_of_consent is when your daughters come of age.

manhood_close is likely a variable having some impact on births, i.e. how many active generals you will soon be having.

ok so it sounds like i edited the right variables then, no? any ideas on why it didnt work and the age stayed the same?

You need to activate changes using io.file_first or bat file.

But you can trust us....its hardcoded and can't be done...

wait, if its hard-coded and cant be done, then y didnt u say that initially? and more importantly, if its hard coded y did they put the variable in the campaign_db.xml file, does that variable not do nething?

Figured you knew since you said it yourself

The variables are there to modify when your characters come of age and die and their spawning. Can't change when they marry.

o! so yea, i when i said it didnt work, i was talking about the age of adulthood. i had pretty low hopes for the marriage thing. but i was hoping to get the age_of_mahood and age_of_consent things working tho. any idea y it didnt?

As I said, you need to activate them using io.file_first or a batch script.

but i did:sweatdrop:

What numbers did you set them to? They need to be somewhat in line with the other numbers.

Say you set age_of_manhood to 14. This means all your sons should come of age when they hit 14 rather than 16.

that is in fact what i tried to set it 2. i set them both to 14, but they still didnt "grow up" until 16...

That means that your io.file_first is not working.

Fastest way would be to edit your medieval2.preferences.cfg by adding this to the top:

[io]
file_first = true

Then save and mark read-only.

ok, so i figured it out. i didnt realize you had to KEEP launching from the batch file every time... sorry about that, i feel silly:embarassed:
