OK folks.. hope some of you have faced (and solved :) this problem:

https://img168.imageshack.us/img168/5339/crap2df7.jpg

dont ask where the trees are, question is how can I remove this dark 'layer' under dense forest (it's a dense forest just no trees) ??
In d_aerial_map_gr_types for dense f. was set same texture as for sparse f. or even more obviously one texture during winter; yet always game makes this...

And another small question: what this numbers in descr_climates mean? ,if anything at all - seems exactly nothing so far..

climate temperate_forest_deep
{
colour 247 148 29
heat 1
winter

strategy summer sparse_tree conifer_a.cas 2
strategy summer dense_tree conifer_a_impassable.cas 3
strategy summer canopy conifer_a_canopy.cas 14

strategy winter sparse_tree conifer_a_winter.cas 7
strategy winter dense_tree conifer_a_impassable_winter.cas 6
strategy winter canopy conifer_a_canopy_winter.cas 15

so hard to say it's out of our business (ie hardcode), wont tell ya my mod only (fixable), or give any idea where to look?

that crap just kills my map :wall:

Well the numbers after the word colour refere to the palette colour (As in what colour to use in paintshop.photoshop). As in red, green blue. So 0 0 0 would be white and 255 255 255 black

As for your problem....well my guess would be in the climate TGA you have the wrong palette colour in that area (as in it should be 247 148 29 exactly, even 1 number out can cause these problems)

Or it might be in the ground type TGA (but my 1st impulse is to say check your climate TGA as if it is reading ok as dense forest then that sounds like it'll be ok)

Hope that helps a bit

you need to scroll a little to the right in that bit of code Horseman .. numbers in question are marked in red ... (I get the impression you didnt see those .. ;))

Haha you were right :dizzy2:

I have no idea what those numbers are for! But thart aside I still think the problem with the campaign map could be the climate.tga

:laugh4:

Horseman, you referring to ways to solve missing trees - they are ok, texture was the problem apparently..
But I have no idea why landscape texture under those trees is darker than it should! :wall:

EDIT: It seems that game alters texture under 'canopy' trees in the middle of the forest-mass. I changed it to use same model as for normal impassable for., so if change back it may work or may not with my trees...
EDIT2: same.. but not that ugly...

Hmm, tbh Charge I've never tried to remove that dark pattern. I have a sneaking feeling it's hard coded. If it's not then I don't know how.

I now partially remember to have had something like it (a black spot) on some swamp-climate ... thats basicly all I remember .. I had it ....

I still have plenty of swamp on my current map so all I can think of is that I swapped some textures or groundtypes .. (vague ... I know ... :freak: )

@RedSpot

That's because there's no dense forest model for swamp climate. If you place swamp and dense forest, you get the black underlay, and it's impassable, but you don't get any trees.

How to remove that black underlay? I don't know.

I had similar but in pink once.

Unless you add trees to swamp climate in descr_climates of course..
Pink means most likely that you've got wrong colour in map_ground_types (photoshop doing it sometimes)
