GAH I just spent an hour figthing a battle against two Hungarian stacks with my Turkish stack to conquer Bucharest. I captured 3 family members, and was waiting to take the city, but when the game loaded back to the campaign map it decided my army wasn't going to take the city, my General was just going to flinch every few seconds and pretent that he was going to take it. The battle was during the end turn, and I think it is a known bug.

Seriously CA minor bugs are OK, but this thing has happened so many times now, usually against the Mongols.

I am not fighting that battle again, so I tried autoresolving, and naturally I got a clear defeat.

Could someone tell me the cheat to delete armies, I want to delete those two Hungarian stacks.

This is a one and only reason why I sometimes cheat. I don't want to fight that battle again. I suggest auto_win attacker and the autoresolve. It is not the best solution because you might suffer heavier losses than during the original battle.

umm correct me if i'm wrong but how did u assoult during an end of turn?

it seems to me that the AI sallied, lost and retreated back to the castle.

how is this a bug?

as far as i know if the remaining army is small enough u will take over the city (the survivors disperse) if not the seige continues.

I had the enemy besieged, and they sent another stack to relieve the defenders. And after the battle I had the problem.:wall:

Then run the end turn again, and when they attack you, open the console and type "auto_win defender" without the quotes, then autoresolve the fight. You'll win, though as said you'll have no control over who dies and who lives through the fight.

Thanks for the help guys, did the auto_resolve, and while a couple of family members got away, I mopped them up next turn.:2thumbsup:

I haven't had such problems since "upgrading" to Kingdoms retrofit (or in LTC). Was this bug perhaps eliminated or somehow reduced. I played 2 America campaigns in which I never used auto resolve and I never experienced any bugged battles (rarely I have had battles that would CTD when loading).

That bug is extremely annoying. It happed to me 2 or 3 times and on both - vanilla and Kingdoms. Usually happens when I’m besieging the huge town or fortress with full stack and there is a full stack inside and another full stack is attacking me at the end of the turn in order to relieve the siege. After one hour of “heroic battle” you win and instead of entering into the town, your general is raising the sword and then returns it back and the animation goes to loop and you have to reload last saved game. If you do auto resolve – result is total defeat for you, I have tried to replay the battle manually 2-3 times but the result is always the same game loops and you have to reload. Aauto_win defender is the only option to continue without losing your progress or reloading the game many turns before this event.

It always seems to be after heroic victories, doesn't it?:wall:

Yep

I learned that the hard way. I defended Constantinople brilliantly against three crusader stacks and a lonely general (How the hell he could be on a crusade beats me), when that lonely enemy general got stuck. My computer froze when I clicked on him and I had to fight the entire battle over again. In the original battle I had lost very few men. The second battle I was a bit hasty so I lost more men but all went well until the computer went on a holiday. The third battle was auto_win defender. The saddest thing was that I lost more men during autoresolve then during the real battle. From that moment on I have always played with the timer on to make sure that I wont be the victim of some bug

So keeping the timer on prevents this bug?

Must be why I haven't it experienced it. I was previously accounting it to luck but oh well...:smash: knock on wood

Yeah Medieval II is a bugged game. I've had some many problems with it!
One time I had besieged a settlement and I got the ram up to the gates and knocked them out. Then, my units began acting as though the gate was still intact! I lost that battle on time... I've not enjoyed Medieval II Total War...to say the least. Good luck on getting your bugged fixed though! Hope it goes well.

Yes indeed,

It is always after "heroic battles". Maybe AI doesn't want to accept that we are so "brilliant" commanders ;) and can defeat 2-3 huge stacks at once. :)

I play with the timer on and still experienced the bug, so you must just have been lucky so far...

You know, with every version I've played... 1.00, 1.02, LTC, and The Long Road, I have never experienced this bug?

Sorry to be a party pooper. I'll shut up now.
