Never forget that when you disband a unit it doesn't go away. It becomes a mercenary unit for your enemies to hire. As england I had a nice army of clansmen who really shined in a long campaign against the rebels and the danes. I had a few that had around 5 valor (good general and loads of experiance). But I was getting higher tech units built and wanted to get rid of them. So I disbanded them. Bad move! I built up a couple of armies of fuedal MAA and sergeants and about 6 years later started a campaign against the french. So there we are, fighting in brittany. We go to the battlefield and I see the french have an odd-looking unit out in front. Hey! They have Clansmen...where did they come from? So I sent one unit of MAA out to kill them and then went to the other side of the map to take care of the rest of the army, assuming the MAA would make short work of the clansmen. Well, I come back later to check on the progress, and hey! the french clansmen have only taken 10 losses to my MAA's 45! Needless to say, we got routed. That +5 to attack, +5 to defense and +10 to moral (1 valor = +1 def, +1 att, +2 moral) goes a long way!

"You there, knight!" "Yes, sir?" "We just lost that battle. Why did you order your men to charge that unit of enemy sergeants?" "Uh, I was impetuous, sir" "'IMPETUOUS!? Impetuous!? Men! Kill him, I want his head!"
