View Full Version : Huh?? Some fishy things in my campaign...

My Spanish campaign is starting to get a bit fishy.

First, I had to deal with an endless stream of Italian heirs, that I mentioned in the previous thread ( they got a steady stream of fresh heirs for 5 years in a row; I finally got rid of them by assassinating the heir first, and THEN taking out the Doge, har har).

Then, I have noticed that all the muslim rebels are called Sirs, and that they are building catholic units?! Well, ok, I guess that the rebels, being all of the same Faction 0, have a generic tech tree that they follow, regardless of whether they are in fact ex-muslims in the ex-muslim province with 100% muslim population, so I can deal with that.

Later on, the Russians reappeared in two provinces, one of which owned by me, another by my allies the Egyptians. I defeated them in my province, where the prince was, together with loads of chivalric knights, feudal knights, chivalric sergeants, etc. Now, the Russians can't build those units. I know that the super-elite troops showing up in rebellions have been taken care of in the patch, but does that mean that they won't be able to get the units that don't belong to their tech tree as well? I guess so.

But ok, I can live with that as well. However, the Egyptians failed to crush them in a province of theirs where they also appeared, and ended up being under siege. I have captured the prince, together with most of the foot knights, arbs, arquebuses, etc., and didn't bother to kill the prisoners. Hey, they have just emerged, have no income, so they're dead anyway, right? WRONG!! They've paid the ransom of 15000 for all the troops together with the prince, and the troops are going to be avaliable for command next year in the province in which they don't even control the castle! And there's no way that they could have gotten that kind of money from pillaging, it was an outback undeveloped province. But ok, I guess when they emerge, they get a bunch of starting cash. However silly, I can still understand it. Won't make the same mistake next time......

I kept on playing. Fought the English. After taking them out, I have discovered that they have built the metalsmith......in MERCIA!!!?? http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/eek.gif http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/eek.gif

*Sob* I can't take it any more.....

Any explanations? http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

Sounds like you got the special 3 for 1 sale on bugs. I have heard of many of these things happening in previous threads, but never, ever that many at the same time. Were you really kicking butt? It seems that when you start doing real well, odd things start happening and usually it is bad for you.

------------------
"You there, knight!" "Yes, sir?" "We just lost that battle. Why did you order your men to charge that unit of enemy sergeants?" "Uh, I was impetuous, sir" "'IMPETUOUS!? Impetuous!? Men! Kill him, I want his head!"

I hope you have some saved games that illustrate those bugs. Let the devs know about it because it's more than likely that they will ask you to send them the save game files.

The English get a metalsmith in Mercia on high period so I presume that u are playin on that. They can't upgrage it to master metalsmith. I have seen muslim rebeles with with FMAA, FS, culverins. I think it is to with the province slowly changing religion back to catholism. The funniest was seeing Sir Robin of Locksley in a muratabin infantry unit instead of longbow http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

Yes, he is a feudal sergeant and currently under siege in Nottingham. He has a weapon upgrade too..... http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif

And yes, I'm playing high period on hard, and doing really well.
