View Full Version : HALP! How to stop rampaging Inquisitors?
It has been a minor problem for a while... But now it has grown to a major one. The snail eating French are breeding hosts of Inquisitors (I am the Danes) and one exceptionally bad case with 4 stars is going from general to general and burning them.
I have something like 6 assassins after him but he keeps moving from turn to turn and my assassins never get to knife him. And while he moves he kills 7 star generals, leaving charred bodies in his wake.
Holy Christ I hate that man.
The one time I almost got him he killed my assassins like it was a walk in the park.
HEEEELP! He is ruining my economy (killing acumen 4 or 5 governors) and disposing of my military elite all alone!
How the hell can I even CATCH him, let alone kill?
Bishops or Cardinals might help. Is he moving all the time? If so then hit him with an assassin just after he lands in a province. Hope it helps.
Cheers,
Heggs.

No French - No Inquisitors - No Problem...
And a bunch of provinces on top... but without those 7* Generals, maybe some slight probs :-/
btw: Shouldn´t it be possible for say a moslem army to kill a christian priest in their own province? Sounds logical to me at least.
I have the same problem with a 5 star Italian inquisitor. And the Italians are my allies!!! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/eek.gif

Me Too!! Mines a 3 Star and he's having a party in Flanders. How do you kill him. I've wast 3 or 4 Assasins and he still lives. One assasin had two stars.
Guess what it get worse. There's another one in Venice, cept he's a 0 star inquisitor. I tried killing him with a 1 or 2 star Assassin (forget which) AND the Inquisitor still Lives!!!
How do you kill these Demons from Hell? What might a Cardinal do?
Thanks!
although it aint much consolation there is a sneaky way to save your governors
when you click on your garrison forces you get your garrison scrolling from left to right
the inquisitor always attacks the first one in the list on the left hand side
this means if you have say 2 archers and a spear in a fort if you ensure the governor is not on the left hand side (for example archer, governor archer, spear) he should be safe
if the governor is on the left hand side then simply move one of the units out of the fort then put him back in (last thing into garrison goes on left hande side)
this trick also works against assasins aswell
doesnt work for armies though as he goes for highest rated general in the stack though if you really really want to save them then keep the general moving forcing the inquisitor to chase and recombine with army when attacking by moving army then general into attacked region
in a lot of ways inquisitors are a major pain as unlke assasins your spy defences have no effect on em
if i remember correctly you may be able to increase piety of your generals by trying to get him up for heresy using low lvl inquisitors (your own) as each failed attempt has a chance to increase piety

Bishops and Cardinals help thwart Inquisitors. Cardinals more then Bishops. Either they protect your men making them totally un-tryable OR they reduce the chance of an inquisitor being successful to a point that the AI will not bother and, instead, looks for dead-cert targets. Either way you need one or the other to protect your men.
Sometimes I just move the targeted general away from the inquisitor. Nice and quick.

How do you kill a 3 star Inquisitor?
What are the different types of Inquisitions?
Right now, the maniac is purusing an "Inquisition of Individual", before he was doing something else (forget).
I've got to kill him, he ruining my plans!
Is this a BUG!!?? http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif

The inquisitor burned 4 generals with either good command and/or
acumen. Then I cheated by loading a few times and had 7 assassins waiting for him when he moved to a province; He wasnt't able to get them all. Ha ha ha.
Anyway. I hate inquisitors now. Fucking demons. I'm killing every Inquisitor I see at the moment, no matter where they are.
I like the idea of annihilating my allies, the good, snail eating French, if that rids me of the plague that the inquisitors are.
/me goes prepare armies
PS. I still don't like the fact I had to "cheat" to kill the bastard, but there wasn't much else I could do. And seeing my 7 star generals die for nothing hurt too much ;(

I hate those damn inquisitors too they killed my best leaders, governers and even my lord chamberlain i had to produce army's of assasins to kill them it took me 50 years to stop them from arriving
I'm wondering if you have 2-3 bishops or cardinals in each territory, shouldn't that make you nearly immune to inquisitors? Of course, trashing their home faction works too http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif
I've found the perfect solution, thanks to your advice, good Sirs!
I burned the whole of Europe; the French, the Spanish, the infidel Almohads who were redising in the Iberian Peninsula, the Pope (he had something fuck to say about me annihilating the inquisitor breeders, so I had to destroy all his provinces, grind his castles from stone to gravel to sand, burn his priests and rape the nuns and then confiscate his florins. Oh, and the Pope himself was captured... then hanged), and then I conquered the Poles and the Hungarians for good measure. I think they were plotting or something. I killed their kings for that. Or maybe they weren't plotting, who the hell knows, but they were real suspicious I tell you. Anyway they'll be better off dead.
Then I left a good third of the provinces for the rebels to control and burned them all at least three times over and again, leaving them remains again to the rebels. The pathethic swhine.
Now the Inquisitors pester me no more.
I just married my daughter and burned a few eastern provinces for fun.
I hope the Ottomans will enjoy my invasion.
Of course rebellions are a-plenty but when you kill every leader and ring leader often enough they start showig respect and hey, I don't even WANT to improve the provinces anyway. Let them roast. I have 12 rank five assassins.
/me is off to enjoy the incest vice

Remember 11th september, 1973!!
The solution to your problem is simple... go round the pubs of genoa gathering all the men you can, and walk up to paris, fart in the frog kings general direction, and walk back to genoa http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif.

You can't blame the AI for turning down your ugly daughters http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif

When you get a message saying, "An inquisitor has gone out of control. He's burned some-odd thousand of people to death," what does it mean, in game terms? Is there a reduction in revenue? Do I lose troops? What happens?
Pragmatic - when I got that message, the zeal of the Province the Inquisitor was in fell from about 67% to 37%. Very annoying, as I had put the Inquisitor in that province to raise the zeal prior to launching a crusade.
