Traits are probably one of EB's greatest features, you cannot not love them.
But, I don't know if its just me, but the trait system is slightly mismanaging.

I know the trait system doesn't work perfectly but in my campaign I have seen the most ridicolous things going on.

A member of Gens Cornelii a certain Sextus Cornelius Scipio son of the cherished Asina, turned out "Not like his father". He was a rather dull, charismatic and langorous fellow. Lucius Scipio(the father), decided to raise the young Sextus in a senatorial environment, and left the boy under the tutelage of Gnaeus Octavius, a successful plebeian(also Dull/charismatic/langorous). With years however the rather obscure Sextus grew to become a: Good tacitian and talented leader, with enough influence and good optimas attitude to become praetor and consul.

Currently in my game characters who are dull, have never seen blood or an angry Gaul, or having the best traits, and taking all the positions. Whilst my Appius Ivlivs Caesar and probably his cousin Caius Ivlius Mento both of whom are literally National Heroes(Appius fought the Carthaginians for the domination of Sicily, Caius fought at Sardinia and Corsica, and later after First Punic War, fought the Cisalpine Gauls.) Both have some influence(4 or 5), both have 3 or 4 management, yet their souls were tainted by their "love for beauty"

The weirdest thing is that, I have fought numerous battles, yet it was not until a defeat through auto calc, that gave my leaders good tactician and talented leader. Further neither of the Ivlii were never Imperators, despite fullfilling all requirements.

So if you any one has any guide or tips to creating "Good Roman" characters, I would really appreciate it :2thumbsup:

Yes, this one is a serious problem; in particular with a proper played Roman faction because you don't have professional generals but magistrats that serve for some time, do not have anything to do with the army the next 15 or so years and become general thereafter.

That means a lot of "lovers of beatuy" ahead of your Legions - not that I would mind to have Frederick the Great or Eugene of Savoy on my side, but as long as favoring the fine arts reduces the ability to command armies....

May be you would appreciate this little modification:

thanks konny, looks interesting, definately will try it out in my next romani game.

However, the problem is not the inability to produce good commanders. I get commanders with 3 or 4 stars(which in terms of EB Romani is really good, I think?), but those commanders are "Green" and Dull yet staying in the cities allowed them to become great warriors.

That is a problem with the triggers, I had addressed it as coneptual in that thread:

The triggers for non-combat earned command traits are direct, that is by sitting around in a town with a temple of war, for example. The triggers for combat earned command traits take a lot of twists, turns and loops, if you like, between the battle won and the star gained. The result is that characters need to command many, many battles to either gain or loose a star that way.

I would like to change it to a more simpler way in which every battle can directly trigger the combat related traits - by certain percentage taking into account the circumstances, as well as experince and character of the general.
