View Full Version : What with "Britons"?
I mean that tribe on the British islands. I really don't know to do with them, I get spammed with powerful brigands quickly, but I don't heve army strong enough to attack neighbouring neutrals ("barbarians").

Your playing as the Casse i presume. Well its true you have to disband a small part of your army but not all. I think i leave 3 units. If your playing on the recommmeded diffculties them the Caledonian will attack your settlement. And after the siege they might come and attack. When they do i place my troops on the slope of the town centre with the General units behind and set the javelings onto fire at will. The first unit will rout under the rainstorm and your troops should hold them plus because the generals units have more javelins they will continue to throw them down on the enemy once 2 units start to rout then. I send the chariots into the fray too its risky but it can start a mas rout and all you have to do is cut them down.
After that your at war with the elutheroi so You have to disband your army and build up economy. the second army stack never usally attacks you. build up some cheap forces off slingers and short swordsmen and it should be a peace of cake. I once built up a strong force and blitzed all of present day england and wales and then disbannded again. so my economy went through the roof after that your laughing and you next have to Invade the continent.

Or you can try to take the rich cities of belgae, which I did with that sexy ship, but I had to fight a nasty second stack of belgae so I whooped em on a bridge
HUZAH!!!
Yeah taking on the british tribes is pretty hard at the start....just dont be too conservative with your turns if you wanna take that route lol
The strong eleutheroi presence is the reason why Casse have "Casse has a very difficult starting position but grows much more capable as the game proceeds." in their description.

I just used a lot of Kluddobro (Briton Shortswordsmen) and Slingers to take out the Eleutheroi towns one by one. I think I took one every 5th turn or something, though I did have to wait after taking Cambriae to let my economy catch up. I then quite easily invaded Ireland and took it´s two towns in about 4 turns, whereafter I build up a big invasion force that I landed in Belgae. One thing that really helped me in my wars against the Gauls and Carthaginians were those super Goidils from Ireland, the Dubosaverlacica. I shipped maybe 5 units of those every 10th year and let them lead the charge. 3 of those guys can almost alone take out any Gallic town, even those with city-walls and strong garrisons. Great guys.
