View Full Version : oh, how to fix/restore my original game!??

Several months ago, I'd experimented with the mods RTR and Napoleonic, but didn't like either, was burnt out on Rome TW in general, so uninstalled.

Today I got the urge to play again, so reinstalled (patched through BI 1.6).

Anyhow, several problems:

1. I can't find the BI jewel case, so no code. Though it didn't ask me, as I forgot to delete the original install folder, so it must've kept the info... HOWEVER, that leads to problem #2:

2. The nation icons, and worse yet, the world map, is now screwed up. It's almost as though it's overlaying one of those old mod maps with the new vanilla one from today's (not so) clean install.

...so since I can't find my BI case (thus, no code), and don't feel like taking an hour just to reinstall even if I did, what do I have to delete or fix to get the world map looking right? Would also be cool if I could restore the original nation icons, too!

THANKS!!

(apologize if this belongs under mods or tech help)

you really need to be able to reinstall unfortunately - you've probably got more than just those bits of mod floating around in there

to try and sort out the world map you could try deleting (or better just renaming) the map.rwm file which will be either in your campaign or base folder
look in rtw/bi/data/world/maps/campaign....

that regenerates when you launch a campaign and stores a lot of information about the map as it was last played - but as you have a mangled install it might not regenerate for you - be warned!!!!

Yeah, I tried deleting the ol' "map.rwm: files (all 3 of them), but actually, it wouldn't start a new game, strangely enough!

Also, the "restore old campaign map" batch file didn't seem to help (not sure if that came with RTR or Napoleonic), so yes, I just reinstalled clean (after deleting Rome install folder).

The GOOD THING is that it didn't ask for my CD case code anyhow!!! Good thing, because as I said, I can't find the BI jewel case anywhere!

Got lucky this time!

BI doesnt ask for a key cause it isnt a game by itself, it is a patch, basicly an official mod .. so you need a key for Rome and than patch to BI ...
