Who would have ever thought that someone at a Sinn Fein ard fheis would not only wear a sash but also get a standing ovation .

It's astonishing how the certainties of one's youth (the Iron Curtain, sectarianism etc) have become straws in the wind.

Makes one wonder what the next twenty years of "certainties" will yield.

Sinn Fein once = anti-Orange, therefore someone wearing wearing the sash, speaking with authority at their Ard Fheis, is equivalent to Fidel Castro speaking to the US Republican Convention?

Well yes , to a certain extent , but singing the sash is still a good way to get a gobshite to throw the first punch .
