My Byzantine Ruler Emperor Alexios I was 80 when i sent him to fight the Eygptians,he died in battle, but when i played on without attacking the Eygptians,he lived passed 80.
Once read a post whereby some guy got a ruler who hit 90 years of age.
Hope my current ruler who is 60,he's been on the throne 4 45 years, will hit 80 or 90 years of age.
I had one aged 83. It was annoying as hell, as playing English I had managed to get myself excommunicated at age 63 and thought "Oh well, it's not so bad - my king will die soon". After crusades from France and Germany, then war from Spain, I realised my mistake. Weird thing was, when the same king was fighting back several years later against France I got an excommunication warning, indicating that, to my surprise, I was no longer excommunicated. I can only surmise that the Pope died before my venerable leader!
heh yesterday I had king Roger IV of the Sicilians reappear in rebel-held Malta at the tender age of 106 (he died of an illness the next turn though).
Actually he had reappeard as Roger II and III before (first at the age of 93) all attempts failed each time as he died instantly of old age. This must be some form of creepy-crawly, he shouldn't be capable of emerging 3 times should he?
I had a few laughs though, and the stacks on sicily were very good when I finally bribed them to stop the sillyness.
I had a problem with a very old ruler. As Byz I was walking towards victory. Had a few heirs but everyone was getting older and older. 5 royal princes over 55. Ruler aged 76. Two turns later I had lost.
Ruler died of illness. No princes left -others turned to generals, others must have been brothers of original king. Next turn new king dies of illness. Agh!!!! 20 hours of play up in smoke! I never reload save games (I feel it is sorta cheating).

Ouch...
I like to er... cull Heir's who are too close to the king in age and always make sure that they are married before they become king..
Anyway.. I have no idea, I will have to start paying attention..

Playing as the English I had King John reach the ripe old age of 84. The randy old goat produced 6 sons and 3 daughters, one son was born a year before he died. Must be the viagra.

Diplomacy is the art of telling someone to go to hell so that they look forward to making the trip.
Mid 80's for me as well.
Magraev, they were probably brothers, not the same person. However, I think that the devs said that once you had the faction down for say 60 yrs, you can be pretty sure that they won't reemerge, since all the hidden heirs will die of old age. If what you say is true, it could be possible that they are living the lives of eternity somewhere, which is not good.

I mentioned this in another thread, but if your ruler is put in a crusade they cannot die of old age / illness. Emperor Conrad of the HRE is at close to 130! I stopped playing that game cause it was really dragging on, but he likely would have kept going for the rest of the game.
