Now that i've got your attention ;) Someone, i don't know who (it wasn't me if that's what you're thinking) has signed my phone up to one of those stupid pron services that send you a text everyday, and each one you recieve costs $4. I can't figure out how to stop it, as there is no way of replying to these and no contact details provided. I will be calling Optus customer services tomorrow, but i thought i'd check here beforehand to see if anyone knows a way to stop this damn thing.

I only have $14 left, so speed is of the essence!

Teh Evil!

No experience, there. Sorry.
I'd google any data you have. Number, text, filename of image etc.
Put any text you find in inverted commas like this:
"Problem with mobile phone porn subscription"
As I write this, google doesn't give any result, yet. That's because the spider hasn't yet archived it.
If you google any text part of the message in inverted commas you can be sure to find the pages where others who have the same problem have posted the message. That way you quickly come to the point. Whereas "porn" gives you quite a few results that could distract....

I've already tried google a bazillion times. As you mentioned, it typically leads to rather distracting irrelevant things, or just comes up with nothing.

Well, i hope that maybe phoning Customer Service tomorrow can help. If not, i may have to get a new sim card, which would be a bloody pain in the butt.

One of my clown friends pulled that one on me no way to stop it, had to take a new number.

Aaaaaargh.

And how did you get a new number? Did you call the company? Or did you have to buy a new SIM? And did it cost money if it was the former option?

I was lucky to have passed my 1 year contract, could just cancel the number, but I did have to buy a new SIM-card yes. If you can't cancel your number I have very bad news for you.

Oh, don't worry, i'm not on a contract. It's one of those 'pay as you go' things. Top it up with credit and then it takes money whenever you do something, such as receive one of these stupid messages.

Guess i'll find out if it is possible to change my number. If not, then i'll just get a new SIM card. Thank god i start my new job tomorrow :D

Don't forget to whack the guy around the ears a few time. Makes you feel better so whoever says it doesn't help is a liar.

That's the problem - i don't know who did it. Was invited to a party by my sole friend, woke up the next morning with a pounding headache and this slight problem.

Change the number. If you see an ad about the service in question in TV, pay attention to the small letters.

Am i reading between the lines and seeing accusations that i was the one who signed me up to this evil service? :clown:

Like i said, was at a party and from what i can assume someone signed me up to it. Either that, or was coerced into doing it while drunk, in which case i am responsible.

Does that mean i punish myself?

No, you misunderstood me.

Some companies use TV to ad theirselves. If u happen to see that ad about this service in question, in those small letters say how to stop it.
