Dear STW fellows:
First many thanks to the STW-developing team and our SwordDojo community!
This mod is specifically designed for single player of Shogun Total War, Warlord Edition/Mongol Invasion, it is NOT meant for on-line play.
The package contains two sets of Stats (“SPStandard” and “SPBloodLust”), and the “No-Geisha” mod.
There is also an excel spreadsheet file called “TroopstatsComparison”. It lists both SPStandard and 1.0.2 data for easy comparison. For each unit, the first row is SPStandard data, while the second one is of 1.0.2 version.
***********************************************************************
The “SPStandard” is modified based on 1.0.2 and 1.0.3 data, with numerous changes. To name a few:
1) Japanese Heavy Cavalry now has fewer men (12 in 60 men setting), lower morale, but is given higher attack power, higher turning speed, better running and charging speed.
The new HC is essentially the elite guards of Daimyo and Taisho (I highly recommend you to “assign” HC heirs or "train" HC generals only, thus adding a bit role-playing flavor). Do NOT use those guards as fodder; for in spite of their combat prowess, a unit of disciplined Yari Samurai can decimate them easily!
With altered HC stats, AI Daimyos are now harder to kill, and tend to be less foolhardy in the battlefield. A general who knows fear is formidable indeed, for he is wise enough to escape from the temporary defeat and come back later with a vengeance.
2) Increased the turning speed of YC and NC to improve their maneuverability. Each of the three “main stream” cavalry units (CA, YC, NC) has its own strength and weakness and can play its distinct role. CA provides the mounted missile support, YC excels in its speed and Yari bonus versus other cavalry, and NC is the main shock cavalry. Notice I didn’t increase the Naginata Cavalry’s defense and armor. Unlike medieval Europe, the tank-like cavalry was never widely used in feudal Japan.
3) Reduced the turning speed of Yari troops and Naginata to reflect the clumsiness of their long weapon or heavy armor. However, the penalties are not as severe as in 1.0.3.
4) Musket unit is made weaker than before. Now the projectile itself needs more time to reload, and is less accurate. Musketeers also carry less ammo. Their melee ability is intact though.
5) Mongol light cavalry and heavy cavalry are restored to 60 men per unit. The spacing between neighbors are adjusted accordingly.
To install “SPStandard”, copy the files (“troopstats.txt” and “projectiles.txt”) in the “SPStandard” folder into the main STW directory. It’s recommended that you backup your original “troopstats.txt” and “projectiles.txt” files before hand.
***********************************************************************
The “SPBloodLust” is very similar to “SPStandard”. With one exception: morale. Normal troops have 4 more morale points than their counterparts in “SPStandard”, Japanese or Mongols. The Japanese HC has 2 more morale point than the JHC in “SPStandard”.
To install “SPBloodLust”, copy the files (“troopstats.txt” and “projectiles.txt”) in the “SPBloodLust” folder into the main STW directory. It’s recommended that you backup your original “troopstats.txt” and “projectiles.txt” files before hand.
***********************************************************************
The “No-Geisha” mod will force the AI factions to make a powerful “No-Geisha” oath, keeping them from building Geisha house entirely. This not only gets rid of the unrealistic Geisha unit, but also allows the AI to concentrate more resource on building combat troops instead of wasting 8 turns on one petite woman. An honorable player like you of course will NOT abuse this mod by building your own Geisha. There is also rumor that, once you conduct such an treacherous act, the AI fractions are no longer bound by their “No-Geisha” oath.
To install “No-Geisha”, copy the files (“building_choice.txt”) in the “No-Geisha” folder into the main STW directory. It’s recommended that you backup your original “building_choice.txt” file before hand.
You can use this “No-Geisha” mod with ANY set of troop/projectile stats.
