"Despite being fought in the legendary year of 1066, the Battle of Fulford is but little known. This largely a result of it being overshadowed by the Battle of Stamford Bridge, which followed hard upon. The site of the battle is near York, by the bend of the Germany Beck, which is an offshoot of the River Ouse. Harald Hardrada and the traitor Earl Tostig were confronted by an army under the brethren Earls Morcar and Edwin, with their household troops and the fyrds of Mercia and Northumbria. The Norwegian King must drive across the river and assail his foes' entrenched position. To do this he will need to use his slight numerical advantage well, and exploit the terrain to his benefit."
