Fulford.zip
Ambrosius Aurelianus"
"Despite being fought in the legendary year of 1066, the Battle of Fulford is but little known. This largely a result of it being overshadowed by the Battle of Stamford Bridge, which followed hard upon. The site of the battle is near York, by the bend of the Germany Beck, which is an offshoot of the River Ouse. Harald Hardrada and the traitor Earl Tostig were confronted by an army under the brethren Earls Morcar and Edwin, with their household troops and the fyrds of Mercia and Northumbria. The Norwegian King must drive across the river and assail his foes' entrenched position. To do this he will need to use his slight numerical advantage well, and exploit the terrain to his benefit."

Stamford_BridgeII.zip
"Hardrada's Last Stand" by Ambrosius Aurelianus
-------------------------------HELP---------------------------------------------------------
Just put the Stamford Bridge II folder in Your_Installation_Directory\Battle\batinit\Historical Battles and play.
You must own the Viking Invasion version of Medieval Total War.
The Stamford Bridge battle has been reprogrammed so that it uses historically accurate troops rather than those which were used in the original version. Harold has a numerical advantage over Tostig and Hardrada, but must bring it to bear before the Viking reserve under Eystein Orri enters the engagement.
Harold's army contains huscarles, thegns, and fyrd, as well as a smattering of archers.
This version of the battle does not claim to be historically authentic as far as troop eployment is concerned. Rather it is designed to give the player a chance to refight the battle in a fun way that I hope captures something of the flavour of the battle. In this it is an interpretation designed to meet the limitations of the game, rather than a direct recreation of the events as they took place.
I have avoided the issue of the English Cavalry's presence because it is a vexed question, and I would have had to use Spanish jinetes, which would not have seemed quite right. Furthermore I admit to inventing a Viking standard. I could find no information as to the Viking banners at Stamford Bridge apart from the famous landwaster, and so made a Thor's Hammer with a lightning bolt behind it to add to give the battle a more Viking feel.
Known Issues
(1) The AI is sometimes a bad boy and does not do what it is told. I found it particularly problematic in this scenario, which seems to have certain features hardcoded. I can only make the Berserker storm the bridge if there be a unit of English peasants there in precisely the original way. Playing the battle on Expert seems to help. Do not ask why: I do not know.

Hastings_as_William.zip
"Hastings as William" by Ambrosius Aurelianus
-------------------------------HELP-------------------------------
Just put this folder in Your_Installation_Directory\Battle\batinit\Historical Battles and play.
You must own the Viking Invasion version of Medieval Total War.
This is basically the original version with the units and flags changed to suit me.
It is tough, but possible, on Expert. William must use his archers and cavalry effectively to secure victory.
Do not get him killed.
Hastings has been programmed in as historically accurate a way as possible. Numbers are approximately equal,
with William being awarded a slight numerical advantage as is generally considered true of history. Harold's army contains
huscarles and fyrd. I have also added Viking Landsmenn and Carls in order to provide a variety of sword and axe units.
Since England was a cultural and ethnic mix of Anglo-Saxon and Dane by the mid-eleventh century, I believe this to be justified.

Toledo.zip

Agincourt1415.zip
Medieval Total War - Battle of Agincourt 1415
Overview: On becoming King, Henry V of England wasted little time in pursing his goals in France. In 1415 he invaded with a large army and besieged Harfleur. When the king of France and his council heard of the surrender of Harfleur, they started raising from every part of the kingdom the greatest possible force of men-at-arms.
Henry had lost a third of his army and decided not to further pursue his original goals. Instead Henry left Harfleur on 8 October, with 5000 archers and 900 men-at-arms. The plan was to march directly to Calais, and sail back to England from there. On 24 October, the English camped at Maisoncelles, and scouts reported a very large French force was camped on the road to Calais. The English had marched 260 miles in 17 days, were low in rations and suffering from a dysentery epidemic, they were not in good shape. The French army was commanded by Constable d'Albret outnumbered the English 5-1 and as usual for the French were well fed.
At dawn the next day, both Henry and d'Albret laid out their forces near their respective camps. To start, the lines were a little over a mile apart. The plain between the armies was a gently rolling freshly plowed field, about 900 yards wide. It had been raining continuously the previous days, and the field was a sea of mud. After the forces were arranged, they sat and stared at each other for four hours. The English had no desire to attack, and the French were still toying with idea of just waiting for the English to starve.
Henry decided to force the issue. He ordered the line forward, to within extreme longbow range, each archer planted before himself a stake sharpened at both ends. As Henry had planned, the first volley of arrows goaded the French into attacking.
Notes: I had in mind unlimited ammo when I created this - it is Agincourt after all.

"...We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition;
And gentlemen in England now-a-bed
Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day."

Alcozer.zip

MTW_Sagrajas_1086AD_HB.zip
Medieval Total War - Battle of Sagrajas 1086 AD
Updated version:
MTW_Sagrajas_1086AD_update_HB.zip
Overview:
In the year 1086 AD, King Alfonso VI of Castile-Leon (Spain) rebuffed
offers of tribute from the moslem states of Al-Andalus and marched south
toward Grenada. In response, Mohammed al-Mutamid of Seville solicited help
from Ben Yussef (Emir of the Almoravids). Ben Yussef brought an army of
fanatical Almoravids across the Mediterranean from North Africa to unite
with the Spainish Moors. Before the Moors could unite, Alfonso's Spanish
army defeated and pursued Mohammed al-Mutamid of Seville's army, which then
fled along the road to Badajoz (Sagrajas). On route, Alfonso found Ben Yussef's
army encamped beyond a hill alongside their route. King Alfonso resolved to
attack it rather than leave it in his rear. Seeing that Alfonso was engaging
Ben Yussef, Mohammed al-Mutamid rallied and fell upon the Spanish rear.
As Alfonso, you must defeat Ben Yussef's army or cause him to flee.
If your army is routed you will lose. Survey your position "carefully"
before you act.
Notes: Sagrajas occurred while Alfonso was at odds with his most able and
trusted general historically known as "EL CID". The "CID" was in
exile - but soon returned to faithfully serve his King.

Medieval Total War - Battle of Nicopolis - 1396.
Overview:
In the late 14th century, John Nevers, son of Philip the Bold of Burgundy led a Crusader Army
of French, English, Germans, Italians and Knights Hospitallers eastward to stop the Ottoman Turks.
The Crusaders joined a Hungarian Army led by King Sigismund and marched along the Danube advancing
deep into Turkish territory. They met with great success until they layed siege to the town of
Nicopolis, where thier advance stalled. Ottoman Sultan Beyezid saw his opportunity and marched
towards Nicopolis to destroy the Crusaders. He approached Nicopolis with his army straddling
the road to the town and took up a defensive position with deep ravines guarding both his right
and left flanks. King Sigismund advised a caucious attack, but the Crusaders advanced with a full
charge against the Turks...
As John Nevers, you must destroy the Ottoman army and drive them from the field to be victorious.
Notes: Remember that Nicopolis is still in Ottoman control and is garrisoned. This battle may
take some time to end - but it will...

Medieval Total War - Battle of Hab 1119 AD
Overview:
In 1119, Baldwin II and his Crusader army met a Turkish force to decide
the fate of the Holy Land. The battle took place near a city called Hab.
The Turkish forces were all mounted and outnumbered Baldwin's army by
another third it's size. Baldwin's only hope was to make the Turks attack
him while his crossbowmen destroyed the Turkish light cavalry. He then
hoped to unleash his Crusader Knights to decimate the remaining Turkish
forces. This battle would decide the fate of the Holy Land...
As Baldwin, you must defeat the Turkish forces. If your army is routed
you will lose.
Notes: Historically, this was a hard fought battle with Baldwin finally emerging
as the victor but at a great cost to his army.

Medieval Total War - Battle of Halidon Hill
Overview:
This is a historical battle for Medieval Total War refelcting the
battle of Halidon Hill in the year 1333. This battle took place between
an English Army led by Edward III King of England, his ally Edward Balliol the
self-proclaimed King of Scotland and Sir Archibald Douglas who protected the
existing King of Scotland, David II. The English Army layed seige to the
town of Berwick just across the Scottish border. Sir Douglas immediately raised
an army and moved to lift the seige of Berwick and drive the English Army out of
Scotland. The English repositioned themselves atop Halidon Hill which overlooked
the main roads to Berwick and waited for the Scottish attack.
This scenario is set up to play as Sir ArchiBald Douglas. You must attack the
English forces atop Holidon Hill and drive them from the battlefield. Even on the
"easy" setting - this will NOT be easy to do.
You can also play as the English by replacing the contents of the "Halidon Hill" BDF
file with the contents of the "Halidon Hill English" text file. To go back to being
the Scots - replace the contents of the "Halidon Hill" file with the contents of
the "Halidon Hill Scots" file. Be sure you do a "cut and paste" when switching between
files so that you DO NOT loose the BDF extension for the Halidon Hill file.

MTW_Maldon-991_HB.zip
Medieval Total War - Battle of Maldon - 991
Overview:
This is a historical battle for Medieval Total War simulating the
battle of Maldon in 991. Viking raiders under their chieftain Olaf Tryggvason
have landed on the Northey Island and are poised to raid the Saxon countryside
near a small town called Maldon. A small causeway connects the Northey Island
to the Saxon mainland. A Saxon force under Byrhtnoth, the Earldorman of Essex
has formed to meet the Vikings. While the Vikings wait for the tide to go out,
thus allowing them to cross the cuaseway and reach the mainland, the Viking raiders
offer the Saxons peace for gold. Byrhtnoth offers the Vikings battle instead.
While Byrhtnoth's Saxons control the mainland side of the causeway, over confident,
he decides to fall back closer inland to the west thus opening the causeway and
allowing the Vikings to access the mainland. The Vikings move across the causeway
and form battle lines - the stage is set.
Conditions: As the Saxons, you must defeat the Viking raiders or their chieftain must be killed, capturee or flee. If your leader
Byrhtnoth is killed, captured or flees and/or your army flees you will lose the battle.
Notes: On the NORMAL setting this battle can go either way. Even though you are outnumbered - you
can win by smart generalship. If the battle does not seem to want to end, press the ESC key
and continue - you see if you won the battle or not.

Medieval Total War - Battle of Fulford 1066
Overview:
This is a historical battle for Medieval Total War simulating the
battle of Fulford in the year 1066. This battle was the prelude to
the more famous Battle of Stamford Bridge in 1066. The Saxons under Morcar of Northumbia
and Edwin of Mercia met an overwhelming force of Vikings under Harald Hardrada and the
English King's brother, Earl Tostig. Harald had just landed his Viking army and joined with
Tostig who had raised an army in Scotland. They moved to capture the city of York.
Morcar and Edwin positioned their smaller force between York and the Vikings on the bank of
the German Beck which connected the river Ouse and the marshlands to the east.
This was a perfect choke point to stop the Viking advance...."
Conditions: As the Saxons, you must destroy at least 75% of the enemy army or kill or capture the Viking King.
Your leader Morcar must not flee, be captured or killed and you cannot lose more than 75% of your men.
NOTE: There are two crossings that you must defend."
