Re: Continous random CTDs
Concerning Vista.
I learned that having RTW/EB installed into "Program Files" folder was a mistake.
It does some wierd shuffling with your files, like sending some of them into the "User" folder.
Check if you've done that mistake, and if you have I'm afraid you have to re-install it to any folder but "Program Files".
Don't know if that could be the problem in your case, but just make sure anyways. :)

I did have it on program files, but after having been given the same advice i reinstalled rtw and eb onto the public documents. It did erase some problems (like CTDs when going into battle). But the problem im having now is random CTD's occuring everytime i play.
thanks and please anyone who has any other tips or clues on cause of the problem please post your replies.

I'm not sure if this will have anything to do with it, but wont installing into the documents folder mean its still installed in a folder which uses users and stuff?
Have you tried running from a new folder, for example C:\Games\RTW or something? Might be worth considering if no one else has thought of it....
Cheers
Re: Continous random CTDs
Move the RTW folder to the C drive and run it from there. Be sure you have your saves, though, since vista likes moving savefolders around.
Vista checks if a program has administrator's status to modify files in Program Files. So when a game tries to save there, bad things happen. You can try running RTW as administrator, although that's not really a permanent fix.
Re: Continous random CTDs
I have to admit that I still have one wierd random CTD.
It normally happends when a small enemy has retreated once without fighting, and when I try to fight them the 2nd time the game will sometimes CTD.
What makes it even more annoying is that it happends everytime I boot up the game again, and leaves me with no other choice but leaving the enemy army for the time beeing.
Strange as it may sound, this does not always happend.
So no idea what may be causing this.
As of now, this has been my only problem.
You experiencing the same thing carthage_supreme?

I installed all the permanent ones , yet to install the temporery and the optional ones. The crashes still persist thought.
Ive also noticed that ctds frequently occur either during battles or after turns.

Thanks for the tip guys , it seems to have reduced the frequency of the crashes.
