They do no teach modding at school. It would be a nice class though :laugh4:
Modders learn mainly by poking around in the game and from forum tutorials. Some learning also occurs in dicussion with other modders on solving mutual problems or achieving specific results etc. Modding is quite a large area so most will have a field they are best at, and some will be more of a support - modelling, texturing, general coding, mapping, scripts, traits/ancs, 2D art, audio, music composition, file management/installers, research (gameplay, game mechanics and milieu) ad. inf!
What ? They didn't teach modding course at your school DG ? :laugh4:
Seriously, the most importing about modding is ideas of what to mod, then you can learn how to mod it (if possible).
Knowing your own limitations helps too. I can't even draw a straight line without a ruler on a piece of paper, so how am I going to model units using 3dsax :smash:
Not to say you cannot learn though. Anyway I stick to text base modding. Much easier.. :book:
I cannot draw either - and "3ds ax/axe" might well be a better name for the application if I got my hands on it. :laugh4:
It wasa tough call - home economics, needlework or modding...I guess I jst made the wrong choice
I learnt all I know about modding from here, TW centre and poking around with the files and seeign what happens!
:P:dizzy2:
Thank u ~ :P

Well good luck! This forum is the best place to learn..its where i learned everything.
Yeah, likewise here. I've learned what little I know from the modders here on the forums (Horseman especially, who helped me learn my way through a few confusing files).
