Cavalry units not attacking

I've experienced a weird thing:

When I group my cavalry units in groups of two or more and I issue an attack command only one of those units will attack.

This has recently been happening to me in all my battles, both missle and non-missle cavalry. I will issue a command, let them do their thing, then go back a "check-up" on them and one or more of the units won't be fighting, just standing where they were when I issued the command.

The groups will all follow move orders, but not attack. If I repeatedly click the mouse to issue an attack the attacking unit within the group will rotate from one unit to the next. (In other words each click of the mouse will cause one unit within the group to attack and another to stop attacking).

I don't know why this is happening. I have to click on each individual unit to issue an order (which defeats the purpose of the groups).

I've found that bug as well (probably an R:TW bug rather than an EB one).

I always have to issue attack orders singly to my cavalry units, but I quite like that as it's more realistic to have them charge in waves.

Same thing happens to me when ordering a group of 2 or more slinger units to move to a new location -- some, but not all of the group will move...

I also get some weird unit movements when I order non-missile units to charge/attack -- the units will rush right up to the rear of a phalanx (for example) and then stop and sort of mill around and creep in toward the enemy unit. It's pretty apparent that someone in the unit called off my charge order!:furious3:

However, this has only happened when i draw a square around them with the mouse rather than the pre-arranged group organised at the bottom where the units are arrayed."

i have this problem, and sometimes it affects other units.

and what the HELL is the cavalry doing?!

these are all RTW bugs that the CA never fixed
