How to get Imperator trait?
Hello!
This question arised here several times before, but i still did not find the answer.
I am trying to get triumph with one of my generals. And for the Triumph, one must to be named Imperator beside other requirements.
Truth is, I get Imperator trait with another general, it was after some battle, but the odds were not too much against me.
So, I checked the traits file and found this:
.........
Trigger Imperator_granted_PostBattle_Attacker
WhenToTest PostBattle
Condition IsGeneral
and WonBattle
and WasAttacker
and FactionType seleucid
and Trait BattlePoints > 3
and Trait Imperator < 1
Affects Imperator 1 Chance 100
Affects Triumphator 1 Chance 100
;------------------------------------------
;Trigger: Imperator_granted_PostBattle_Defender
; o <Imperator> 1 Chance 100
; o <Triumphator> 1 Chance 100
Trigger Imperator_granted_PostBattle_Defender
WhenToTest PostBattle
Condition IsGeneral
and WonBattle
and not WasAttacker
and FactionType seleucid
and Trait BattlePoints > 3
and Trait Imperator < 1
Affects Imperator 1 Chance 100
Affects Triumphator 1 Chance 100
.................
If I understand this correctly, I must win the battle and Trait Battlepoints must be > 3 and then I get it.
But I do not understand how this battlepoints thing works. From what I understand from the file, general get battlepoints after he win a battle. Battlepoints can be reseted by loss, probably.
But, I have a line of several victories with my general and did not get Imperator after I won battle with 1:2 odds against me ~
So can please somebody with knowledge how this trait works give me an advice what to do to get the Imperator trait?
Re: How to get Imperator trait?
For some reason, I seem to get it a lot simply fighting rebels in Italy with my general, but those were against the odds.
My current "kill everybody who gets in your way but be chivalrous and have the odds be against him or be even all the time" general has had the Imperator trait about 4 or 5 times already. Bah, I stopped going to get the triumph in Rome after about 3 or 4 times. I simply just fought battles, as I described ever so succinctly earlier, with the odds against me or even with large amounts of troops. Imperator trait came along after a couple battles.
Re: How to get Imperator trait?
Yeah, in my Romani campaign Marcvs Asiaticus got 3 Triumphs, I couldn´t be bothered to ship him back from Syria for his 4th one. As soon as he landed in Syria and fought 3 or 4 battles he´d get a new Triumph, just like that. Then again he did have 10 Influence, guess that has got to help a bit.

If you look at the conditions for getting Imperator, there is not any requirement for high influence. High influence only affects probability he will be summoned back to Rome after he was named Imperator and other conditions were met , to be called Triumphator.
Re: How to get Imperator trait?
Guys, I'll give you a unique tip in getting the Imperator trait. It's borders on cheating but what the hell.
To get Imperator trait, anytime, you just walkup to the enemy army, seperate general from the army. Attack the enemy by using general only and have the army appear as reinforcement. Use auto-resolve, and I guarantee that every time you'll get an imperator trait.
Re: How to get Imperator trait?
Well, that is, of course, the god-awful AI-biased auto resolve doesn't butcher your own troops instead.
Re: How to get Imperator trait?
1 on 1 ratio against Eleutheroi, no chance of loosing.

Wow, it really works :idea2:
In the meantime I gained my Imperator trait the honest way:) And I really do not know why I did not get this trait after victorious battle where the oods were 1:2 against me.... Maybe there was too small number of troops per side, or because it was defensive battle on river crossing?
Re: How to get Imperator trait?
I think, in general, you get the Imperator trait much easier whilst auto resolving than fighting it yourself.
Re: How to get Imperator trait?
Wait! You get the Imperator trait. Then go to Rome for your triumph?!?
*smacks forehead*
Thats it?!?
*feels dumb, looks around to see if anyone is watching*

Holy Crap, I thought you had to receive a message that you received a triumph. Don't I feel dumb.

That's what I thought. But I'm waiting for someone to actually confirm that. I suppose I'll ship my FM with the Imperator Trait back to Rome asap and try to find out.
Re: How to get Imperator trait?
to get a triumph, you will probably need both a "conqueror of" trait and imperator. Afterwards another trait called Triumphator appears, after which you can go to Rome. At Rome the Triumphator trait into triumph-Celebrating triumph which gives +3 influence.
Re: How to get Imperator trait?
Ya must. You have to get both an Imperator trait and a Victor something (Galliae, over Syrians, over Germans, etc) and then get the Triumphator trait. Don´t anyone ever read the FAQ?
Re: How to get Imperator trait?
I tend to get the imperator trait first, by sending my young generals against an obliging rebel army that has superior numbers but can't beat a FM with his body guards- 2 units of levy hoplites is a good one. Then I let him get back to his studies until a suitable war comes up and he is old enough, according to my house rules. Then my imperator gets first dibs on taking enemy cities and killing good size armies.
