modding faction symbols

Hi Guys,

I've designed some new faction symbols and I want to insert them into the game - but I don't know how. I've read a couple of tutorials on adding faction symbols but didn't understand - perhaps it's too advanced for me, because I only just started modding.

What I want to ask is this:

Is there a really easy way to add new faction symbols to the game? I notice that each vanilla faction symbol has its own TGA file - can't I just replace these with TGAs of my own custom symbols?

Basically, any advice on changing the faction symbols quick and easy would be very much appreciated. Many thanks for help!

To replace the faction emblems you have to edit the files in data/ui/southern_european/interface
The files called "stratpage_*.tga" hold the relevant data for the large versions, and "sharedpage_*.tga" has the small versions for the diplomacy screen and such.

To change the emblems in the main menu, you have to edit the files in the data/menu/symbols/symbol_** folders

As it happens I worked out the solution and changed all the faction symbols OK - except for diplomacy screen, coz I couldn't work out where the right file was - but thanks to you I now know. Again, big thanks!!
