What's up with the Cohors Imperatoria/Evocata, and the post marian Centurion?
hallo, finally i was capable of watching the new legionaries, in EB1.0, i wasn't able cause in custom battle they weren't. But with 1.1 and the configuration program i can see them in custom battle.
I admit im delused. They are the same of that preview of some month ago about 1.0. Some one sayd that they were going to be adjusted, but i see no changement.
I think the members of the Team know how i like EB. So dont take me like a guy who want to attack etc.
my first shock was to see the new reformed centurion in the historical battle. I tryed, and i must say i tryed to like it, but it is completely out of EB style. It's plastic style, it seem coming our of that old plastic puppets, Playmobil, dont know if someone remember those toys.
Then i sayd, it cant be, so i went to play custom battle and tryed Cohors Evocata, and some Imperial Cohortes... same thing, totally "plastic feeling" , completely out of EB style, they seem a child toy, not ever talking of their "Huge Heads", again like Playmobil or Lego. And those faces... they seems a caricature (immense noses and subtile eyes, and a look of "macrocephali").
Now, what was bad with the Old Legionaries? They were great, and completely "IN" with the EB style.
I cant believe the new legionaries they are an improvement on the old ones, it cant be, i cant believe it.
So my question is, what's happened people?
Thanks guys, sorry for this sort of outlet, i know there is a lot of hate on the internet, but i cant believe my favorite mod and modders, could have made this sad joke.

The EB team is perfectly happy with the new romans who are far better than the old ones.
If you are not happy with it you have not obligation to play EB mod. And stop throwing insults we owe you nothing. Capisce ?

Usually when a person want to offend, he try to know where the guy come from and than use some word in his language.
Example:
if you want to attack a french guy, showing all your hate, you say:
"If you dont like, than dont play it! Stupid guy! Tu Comprends"?
sorry for you man, that was really a fall of style from you.

Spoiled child syndrome : get a box full of new toys but cry because he doesn't like one of them.:laugh4:
Oh and I'm not supposed to stay nice when people use expressions like playmobil or things like that

Lol, I love this thread! :)
I think our amico Napolitano has a certain point, but I won't interfere.

Re: What's up with the Cohors Imperatoria/Evocata, and the post marian Centurion?
When is that screenshot from? Because today I was playing around with them and they seem to have been shrunk a little in size, so they are around the height of the Praetorians now, and look much more proportioned.

Re: What's up with the Cohors Imperatoria/Evocata, and the post marian Centurion?
Could it be some sort of 'you need a clean install' issue?

Re: What's up with the Cohors Imperatoria/Evocata, and the post marian Centurion?
Well they did receive a skeleton adjustment (shrinking it), so my guess is that something went wrong during installation. Check out an SVN copy from the 1.1. branch: those files should be IDENTICAL to your 1.1 install.
Parlo poco Italiano ~;)

The praetorians look like midgets. You don't have anything against midgets, do you?:clown:

Re: What's up with the Cohors Imperatoria/Evocata, and the post marian Centurion?
I´ve played some historical battles with the Romans, and the Legionaries seems fine to me, in fact they look better then in 1.0. So yeah, it´s probably something with your install.

yes, "me dispiace" sounds a bit like romanesque or napolitain dialect... the dative should be "mi".

None of the historical battles I could find had any praetorians. The new legions look nice, but Obelics is right, the praetorians are midgets (as are all other infantry units) compared to other imperial legions. It's definitely nothing with his install as it is the same on mine.

The Imperials are also giants compared to enemy soldiers. Look at them fighting those puny Getai. The size difference isn't huge, but it is certainly noticeable and somewhat disconcerting.
On a side note, I have to also agree with Obelics that they do seem to clash a bit aesthetically with other EB units. They look awesome by themselves, but they do look a little out of place, I think it's probably their faces. All in all, I'm amazed at the quality of 1.1 and the many incredible additions. Little things like this are bound to happen, and I know the EB team is focusing on getting EBII out there rather than fixing every little thing with 1.

Re: What's up with the Cohors Imperatoria/Evocata, and the post marian Centurion?
This after all those lectures on how Romans were small people? :laugh4:
You can always replace the new legionaries with the old ones. But yes it is a shame that the models have to be so...bloated, because the skins themselves are beautiful.
-
Re: What's up with the Cohors Imperatoria/Evocata, and the post marian Centurion?
why not just switch skeletons-that way the praetorians and imperatorii have same skeleto-different skins?
-
Re: What's up with the Cohors Imperatoria/Evocata, and the post marian Centurion?
?! What do you mean new skins. Weren't the Evocati, Praetoriani and Imperatorii like that already in 1.0?
btw, I am having trouble with custom battle, as the Legionaires and many other units don't appear on the units menu in Custom battle :inquisitive:. Perhaps it's me scrolling badly, but I've tried like 10 times, and nothing :wall:
-
Re: What's up with the Cohors Imperatoria/Evocata, and the post marian Centurion?
Well, I think the unit skin AND model is beautiful, the problem(to me) is that they don't "match" other units.
But they're still awesome.
