Enjoying the "new" Pahlava!
So, I got 1.1 yesterday and started a new campaign with Pahlava, my first attempt at playing that faction or any of the nomads for that matter.
I was a bit hesitant at first. It became obvious that I had to go on the offensive straight away, and since the AS has some very lightly garrisoned towns in the east they presented a suitable target. Usually I play defensively so this was a new thing for me. I'm now 10 years on and really enjoying the campaign! Horse archers are just too good for those clumsy phalangites.
The music in the campaign map is different from any other I've heard playing EB so far, and that is a very welcome change. It sets the tone perfectly. Likewise the battles are set against a backdrop of powerful blaring horns that really gets you in that killing mood. :laugh4: The new voices are great as well!
I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank the EB team for making such a great mod with varying possibilities in gameplaying style and setting. This campaign "feels" so much different to any other I've tried. Thanks!

Well, "kid" would be pushing it.. but I do feel I made a wise move in persisting with trying this faction out. Finally!
@ artavazd
In 1.0 the music was not the same for Hayasdan as it is for Pahlava in 1.1. But I don't know if that's changed. You could just start a campaign and find out?

dont know about Parthians but Armenian theme finally got some characteristic, unique flavor.
awesome!
Re: Enjoying the "new" Pahlava!
All music is the same for factions within the same culture group. There is no way to change it so we don't worry that a duduk can be heard while playing as Pontos or Pahlava (for example).

I have to double the sentiments about Pahlava. I picked up Rome Total War when it was first released a while back and after being a bit disappointed with its 30 second battles that essentially boiled down to the same rinse and repeat formulas, I put it up in favor of going back to Medieval Total War/Viking Invasion.
About a month ago, one of my friends told me I should give Rome a second chance but to install the Europa Barborum mod to get the maximum experience. Needless to say I was taken a back by how in depth this mod is (and perhaps a little overwhelmed at the same time - but in a good way).
I started using Pahlava when 1.1 was just released (so only a couple of days now) and I'm truly hapy with the way the horse archers are performing in the mod. The ability to literally run circles around the Greek-inspired armies is a blast. I also love the little intro movie that begins when you start a Pahlavian? campaign. As a side question - are there any other factions that have an intro like that or is that unique to Pahlava right now?

Well, I shall explain the Eastern sound-track in detail soon enough, in order to describe the process, the sources and instruments used, and of course acknowledgements. I am pleased that it has been a working apparatus in enhancing the realism of the game. Hopefully, this will be a first batch in many upcoming tracks.
As for the Pahlava voice-mod, well, it's not entirely finished, but it is functioning; None of it would have been possible if not for our volunteers. mAIOR took the first baby-steps in setting the desired attitude, but I must credit Kambiz for making it all a possibility; Without him, the prospects for materializing the work would look less promising. So all praise towards the quality of the Pahlavî voice-mod, fitting for both late Parthians, and Sassanians (As it is based mostly on Medieval Pahlavî from Zoroastrian scriptures, it would actually be more apt for Sassanians, but this is a small admission of defeat considering the magnamity of the project), should be directed towards Kambiz. Shigawire, as usual, is the audiophile who compiled it all, and last but not least, Redmeth, for an iron-hard will and patience for all the necessary "paperwork". It is in my intention to off-set these anachronisms with efforts on Old Persian and Eastern Aramaïc, and make use of this melange to give the East the variation it deserves. A first step in a number of exciting projects.
So, when time shall allow me for it, I will explain the production of the sound-track separately, and when the Pahlavî voice-mod is formally finished, I will explain it likewise and at the same time release it, along with documentation, to the public domain where it may be used freely. For now it will be the owned property of Europa Barbarorum and jointly managed with the Invasio Barbarorum Flagellum Dei (BI IBFD) mod team.
Re: Enjoying the "new" Pahlava!
speaking of pahlava, why do the words coming out of their mouths NOT match the letters used in their names (e.g thanvare payahdag sounds like thunvuhre payodag (uh as in gut with an h)).:clown: then some of the words sound like 1 word (pushtigban i pahlavanig= putibanipahlavanig) some vowels at the begining of the second word dissappear...that's confusing. is there some pronounciation rule in pahlavan about this? just wondering:beam:
thanks in advance
@yossarian: sorry-I tend to be a lttle blunt sometimes...:shame:
