Forum Skins + Sub-Forum Lists

Recently, when I have been messing around with forum skins, I've noticed that some skins change the layout of the subforum lists. Like how if you use the forum skin "The Guild" the sub-forums will be listed as a single line of text, compared to the skin "Dial Up" where the forums are neatly ordered in columns.

I think Dial Up is the only one that has this column feature but why don't the others? It makes the forum look much tidier. :nice:

Yes, it was only applied to the Dial up skin, two or three years ago? I thought it was neat and intented to apply it to other skins. Others didn't like it though.

It's one explicit no, I vaguely recall some no from chat and or PM and no positives.

If others also think it's a good thing it can still be changed.

Tweaked it a bit. It now 'looks' at the avialable amount of screen.

They're not all bad complaints... but if no one else wants to see it, maybe you could make a special one just for me, hey? :wink2:

That's right Raz, they aren't. It's one public no and no further feedback.

I use the Guild skin, and I'd rather it be nicely columned.

I dont like if i go into the RTW area, it forces me to use the RTW skin.

It's supposed to be like this pevergreen:

The Dojo forces the Dojo skin, this is the skin that was the only skin that was available on the forum years ago.

The other forums have a default skin, but they are not forced. When you have it set in the userCP to use default skins, you'll get RTW in the RTW forums and XBox in the Viking: BFA forum. But you can stick to just one skin if you want.

2 people want columns now (2.51 if you include me).

Columns make it much easier for me to read.

Add another one to the Columns "Yes" list. I think it makes the forums look such much neater and tidy. But that's just me :yes:

I like it, but I thought that the Tavern was better the way it was. This way is too spaced out as there aren't many sub-fora.

The new layout is nice, but I would prefer the list to be a bit closer to the "sub-forums" section - the space makes scrolling a little bit long.

Looks good anyhow ~:)

The sub-forum font could be bigger and the items a bit further apart, that makes clicking easier.

Agreed. First time I saw it I thought something wasn't loading properly.

It's definitely an improvement for the "Hosted mods" subfora :2thumbsup:

Much easier to read now.

While it may look good on a full ORG view, it looks unnecessarily huge and spaced out when you have your options set to phase out a lot of the boards.

Make it a separate skin if you really want it.

The spacing is indeed a problem. It's a win some at one end, lose some on the other sofar. A skin like Eidmubarak always shows one column. The normal skins take as much as they can get and it looks ok in some cases, in others it doesn't.

Different forums and filters are one problem, different browsers and screenresolutions are another. A list tag is used and that 'adds' a br I think. I'll try some tweaking in the experiemtal skin to improve it.

Maybe duplicate skins? One skin with the new spacing and the other with the old format?

I have no idea how much time that would take but it might just give everybody what they want.

Oh cool, I just logged back in and BAM! Columns everywhere. Thanks Tosa... it'll probably take a little to get used to but it's much neater now. :2thumbsup:

And Tosa, you're quick... the large spaces look like they've been addressed.

If you feel like it (and it is feasible) you cold enlarge the sub-forum font slightly, it would make the buggers more easily clickable.

And also, those of you complaining about scrolling. If you go to your User CP and then Options, you can change which forums are displayed and hide all the rest.
