I will be moderating this game. (yikes!) And subbing for anyone who does not take their turn in the 48 hour period, unless they select a different sub, or if I am presently at war with their faction. In which case, I will ask a neutral party to sub, whose competence in this game I have witnessed personally on the battlefield. So make your passwords, substitutes, and faction selections known to the game moderator.

Please read this thread in full, as it should bring you up to speed on what's been said so far, and it should give you an idea of how this faction selection thing goes.
Note to all players:
I will be watching certain factions like a hawk until turn 2 is over, because I need to axe the AI spawn stacks. No hard feelings to your dead family members.
ERE and Turks get Ai spawn right off the bat, and maybe others do as well. If you notice your army has suddenly doubled in size, don't be a bad sport, let me know so I can axe them.

Re: Broken Crescent 2: RoPG (Game thread)
I'll take the Ghorids as my main faction.
:egypt:
-
Re: Broken Crescent 2: RoPG (Game thread)
Georgia as my main.
Secondary selection is Armenia. I'll gladly bow out of my main if someone else wants them.

Re: Broken Crescent 2: RoPG (Game thread)
No preference here...
For a change of scenery I might go for the Rajputs or the Sindh
Otherwise I like Seljuk blue...

Re: Broken Crescent 2: RoPG (Game thread)
Hmmmm seeing as I am coming late in this list, I'll go for Abbasids, followed by KoJ.
I'll be the wise and generous Caliph!

KoJ and Ayyubids too. And probably others. Everyone will have to keep an open eye.

Re: Broken Crescent 2: RoPG (Game thread)
Can I have KoJ or the Kingdom of Makuria if neither has been taken?
-
Re: Broken Crescent 2: RoPG (Game thread)
A shame that Antioch is up there, as I'd prefer to be them. But from the list I'll put my vote in for the ERE.
-
Re: Broken Crescent 2: RoPG (Game thread)
We have two main claimants to the ERE, so I will ask for a volunteer to pick a different faction. If not, you can compete for it. Declare how you wish to proceed, Frodge and Ignoramus.
Tristan de Castelreng, I'll need a main selection... it wasn't clear to me which was your main selection. Was it the Seljuks or the Rajputs or the Sindh? I am guessing Seljuks but I need a confirmation.
Rossahh, I'll need a selection from you as well whenever you get a moment. I'm still contemplating whether or not I want to challenge someone for their main selection. I am leaning Seljuks... but Tristan is eyeing them.

What does RoPG stand for?
Rise of Pizza Guy?

Re: Broken Crescent 2: RoPG (Game thread)
ATPG, I know never told you I wanted to join, but I've decided spontaneously that I'd like to play in another hotseat. So, if you'll have me, I'll be requesting the Kypchaks. Secondary choice would be Armenia.
-
Re: Broken Crescent 2: RoPG (Game thread)
Flax challenges EF for the Kypchaks... intriguing!
-
Re: Broken Crescent 2: RoPG (Game thread)
I vote for anyone but Tristan and ATPG as Seljuks if I am to be Caliph... I can somehow feel the blue wrath rushing me :laugh4:
-
Re: Broken Crescent 2: RoPG (Game thread)
Rushing isn't what I've done in any of my other hotseats. I assure you it's suicide. Anyone who thinks they can rush in these things is inviting the world to rise as one and slay them.
You assume I can behave in MP like I do in SP... that's just not possible with so many human players. In my turtle versus hare debate, I even said so. Rushing is instant death in a game with more than one other human player, assuming they are anywhere near each other.

Re: Broken Crescent 2: RoPG (Game thread)
My part of the world has been asleep, and I have been enjoying the wonders of university so I'm a bit late to the party. Both of my first preferences (Abassids and Ayyubids) seem to be taken. I would say Armenia (oh surely not) would be next, but that would be a bit weird so unless Tristan doesn't want the Rajputs, I'll take them, but if he does, put me in for Armenia.
-
Re: Broken Crescent 2: RoPG (Game thread)
I'll go Rajputs for the shiny elephants...
:elephant::elephant::elephant::elephant::elephant::elephant:
Second choice would be the Seljuks
On a side note :
I will be AFK from Wednesday till Monday so please sub for me if necessary and please don't cut me off on diplomatic deals simply because I am not there to answer... :furious3:

Re: Broken Crescent 2: RoPG (Game thread)
ANNOUNCEMENT:
Hey everyone, nothing is "taken" yet. Claim whichever faction you want. This round is for declaring your intentions to pick a certain faction. Getting that faction requires that there are no other claimants, or that the other claimants backed off, or that you've won that faction fair and square with a rock, scissors, paper contest.
So late comers, don't be discouraged from the "remaining" selections. Pick what you want.
The Flax only suddenly decided to join, and he chose the Kypchaks even though Elite Ferret did too. And as for me, I may yet decide to challenge someone for their faction.
I'm giving everyone a chance to change their mind and make sure they really want the faction they've claimed. OK? Choose carefully.
Here's a tenative list of the selections made so far by all, so review it and choose the faction you want, not what factions are "left".
Byzantine Empire (ERE) Ignoramus
Kingdom of Jerusalem Askthepizzaguy
Great Seljuks Rossahh
Ghorid Emirate Ramses II CP
Kypchaks Elite Ferret, TheFlax
Ayyubid Sultanate 00Jebus
Khwarezmid Shahdom Barcamartin
Abassid Caliphate The Lemongate
Turkish Sultanate
Ghaznavids Frodge
Hindu Rajputs Tristan de Castelreng
Armenia
Georgia Monk
Makuria Prince of Troy
Imamate of Oman Cassu
Malikate of Sindh

Re: Broken Crescent 2: RoPG (Game thread)
Just so everyone knows:
I am already subbing for Elite Ferret until he can rejoin the game. He's a w'ittle busy with exams and stuff. While Tristan's away I can sub for him too. I'm gonna be a busy little bee, but I don't mind. Seeing as how they are on opposing ends of the earth, it shouldn't matter. The alternative is that you guys pick someone else for your sub.
That reminds me. Everyone should declare a substitute player or players for this game. My door is always open, but since I'm playing one faction and subbing for at least one for the moment, you may decide that you'd rather someone else play. It would be rather interesting in the IC thread to hear me argue with myself. And don't think I wouldn't do that, either.
Also, I don't expect either Tristan or EF to honour the foreign policy decisions, if any, that I make. So my default is simply trade rights with everyone that offers it, and map exchanges only if it suits the interests of the faction I am playing. If you offer something sweeter to the deal I will consider it. But I can't really commit anyone's faction to a foreign policy decision that can't be reversed easily, like war or an alliance. Or, if they message me and tell me to do something, their orders will stand.
While I don't mind subbing for multiple factions, it's not typically the policy in hotseats for someone who's in the game to do so. I know Ramses and phonicsmonkey typically get tapped to sub a lot, and I don't mind either, but if anyone has any objections, I'm addressing that now by asking everyone to select a substitute other than myself. I'm just here in case your faction doesn't move within the 48 hour period.
Extensions will be granted to those who ask beforehand if no one minds, and if there was an emergency or something and you didn't contact us, private message me and explain the situation, and we may allow you to play your turn.
However, unless you declare a sub, when your 48 hours are up, I will play your faction and keep things moving. The 48 hour deadline will otherwise be strictly enforced, perhaps more so than in other hotseats. I'm always here to sub and you have plenty of time to declare someone else to be a sub, and given the leeway of possibly allowing you to play your turn anyway, I see no reason why we should hold up the game. Since having someone sub for you and posting the save isn't an action that's irrevocable, and we could always pick up from the previous save and do it over under extenuating circumstances, I will not hesitate to "skip" your turn by having a sub play it.
Tick, tock. Everyone ok with that policy?

Re: Broken Crescent 2: RoPG (Game thread)
I'd say Ayyubids first, which puts me in competition with jebus. I see that we've left a big one out in the Seljuks so if jebus really wants the Ayyubids, put me down for the Seljuks.
-
Re: Broken Crescent 2: RoPG (Game thread)
I am asking certain players about possibly competing for their faction. If I can snag one without a fight, that would be great.
Otherwise I am eyeing the Seljuks too.
-
Re: Broken Crescent 2: RoPG (Game thread)
Oh goodie, I suppose I'm back at Armenia again?
-
Re: Broken Crescent 2: RoPG (Game thread)
hmm, whats RoPG mean anyway?
mark my second choice as Georgia or the Abbsaids, but there a long way from the ayyubids
