Custom Tile - Settlement Plan Question
I'm making a custom tile, and I'm trying to create a custom tile that includes a settlment plan on it, specifically the roman_village plan. I add the plan to the tile in the battle editor, save the battle, add the tile to the custom_tiles folder, add the tile to custom_tiles_db.txt, add an entry to custom_locations.txt for the tile, regenerate map.rwm, all check. I go to load that particular custom battle and the plan appears, but with non of the buildings or trees or anything, just the outline of where all of them are supposed to go.
What have I done wrong?
Re: Custom Tile - Settlement Plan Question
Some additional information information, after trying various settings when adding the settlement plan with no luck. I started again and this time made it into a full fledged historical battle instead of cutting it short once I had the settlement in place (i.e. I added armies, alliances, victory conditions, etc).
If I load the battle as a historical battle, the settlement appears correctly, if I load the battle as a custom battle, again all I get the settlement plan without any buildings or trees, or fences, and outlines of where all the missing pieces are supposed to go.
Re: Custom Tile - Settlement Plan Question
what you're doing sounds like it should work!
only thoughts is the new map.rwm for the custom battle being generated at right level - I'm not actually completely sure where that is - so put all my files in both base and imperial_camp levels...
is there any mod-foldering issue with the roman_village_plan, as that's an existing plan type name is it maybe being confused between looking at vanilla and new one. Could you try same thing again but with settlement info copied into renamed settlement plan and see if that works (you need to add the name of the new settlement plan to one of the text files to get it to come up as selectable in battle editor - hopefully you know which - if not I did suss it out previously so will go search for that if you don't...)
Re: Custom Tile - Settlement Plan Question
I haven't altered the settlement plans at all, I'm just using the vanilla roman_village settlement plan. This is also for Roma Surrectum so no mod folder either. I originally had the files at Imperial Campaign level, and was deleting map.rwm both in base and at campaign, and both were being regenerated. I've also tried having the files at the base level but no luck there either.
The only thing that comes to mind that might be the problem is that the tile I'm trying to create the custom tile on does not have a settlement. In RS we have a couple of "village" resources spread around the map, and we figured it would be a nice touch to have actual villages appear when battling on tiles with those resources.
I have no idea how to get extra items and/or settlement plans setup so they'd be available in the battle editor.
Re: Custom Tile - Settlement Plan Question
think second post in https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=94181 was the answer to what you need to add things to, to get new plans to show up in editor
Custom tiles in eod2 had settlement style plans on non settlement tiles (bi -mod) and they seemed to work fine... if anything I think putting custom tile on top of 'real' settlement is harder.
Maybe it works better from mod-folder? and fact you're trying to work from RTW/data is stopping it picking up something ahead of packs?
Re: Custom Tile - Settlement Plan Question
Mak your a genius!!
There seems to be some issue with using settlement plans from the settlement plan menu, but when I added the exact same settlement plan as an ambient type, and everything works correctly.
Thank you greatly, I was starting to worry that I'd need to build a village every time from the primitive ambient objects (i.e. one farm at a time).
