Re: LOA, or List of Abbreviations
Don't forget HA (horse-archers). :beam:
-
Re: LOA, or List of Abbreviations
Should note that the various deaths and fevers describe an extreme expansionist AI faction and not a player control faction. Also don't forget AoR (Area of Recruitment)
-
Re: LOA, or List of Abbreviations
Quote:
AS = Arche Seleukeia, an EB faction
The EB Faction! >: |
We should also include Hooahguys "Booooooost", whatever the heck that means.
-
Re: LOA, or List of Abbreviations
Two additions:
CA: Creative Assembly - the creaters of R:TW - or CountArach - a forum member
IMHO: in my humble opinion
-
Re: LOA, or List of Abbreviations
LS: Lorica Segmentata a form of armour discussed so often that it gets its own abbreviation.
-
Re: LOA, or List of Abbreviations
KTM: Kick to Menu (you try to start up a campaign for instance, and instead of loading the campaign the game kicks you back to the (main) menu)
MiNO: Medieval in Name Only - forum lingo, synonym for M2TW.
-
Re: LOA, or List of Abbreviations
LH: Lorica Hamata, a form of armour discussed so seldom it gets its own abbreviation. At least I´ve seen it been used a couple of times.
MAA: Marcus Aurelius Antoninus, a famous member of the EB team and creator of an legendary AAR, The Antigonids, an Makedonian AAR, that still lives on in a new form.
Maybe you should also add the 1.1, 0.81x and stuff like that, as it is commonly used.
-
Re: LOA, or List of Abbreviations
You could also add SSbQ, UI or SB (somebody used it for sacred band, I believed it was sarmatian bodyguard)
-
Re: LOA, or List of Abbreviations
Oh man, yesterday I was playing EB cuz I'm tired of ExRM and EGM for RTR and I used a huge army of HA's to destroy the AI (AS has got nothing on me IMHO, and AFAIK HA FM's are the best units of all) while writing my AAR. Next I'll try KH because IIRC they have spartans which should make it easy to get the VC. I might go into EDU and edit them LOL!
Haha I'm so funny....

Re: LOA, or List of Abbreviations
Abreviations:
------------
DBH: DimeBagHo, the man behind XGM
Common Expressions:
--------------------
Hammer and Anvil: a winning strategy; pin the opposing troops with phalanxes and charge them from the rear with your cavalry.
Hit and Run: another winning strategy (the poor man's one); pelter your opponent with missiles, fall back, rinse and repeat, then mop the survivors with whatever hard hitting troops you have (left)
Highground: the best position on the battlefield, that is, the easiest to defend if the opponent decides to go on the offensive; give longer range to missile troops.
Teal Death: seen in one occasion; the Epirotes taking over the known world.
Black Plague: far rarer with up to date version of EB; Macedon taking over the world.
edit:
WTF!?: sound you make when you toggle fow off and discover a Blue Death/Silver Death/Yellow fever/whatever waiting for you on the other side of the world.
FOW: Fog of War, what lies on the other side of the mountains, sea, desert. There's no telling what roams in there since you've forgotten your duty as a ruler. Mend your ways and send some spies.
LS: Locking Syndrom; a strange decease which affects mods noticing a LS thread.
HAL: the perfect AI, can even read lips. You should have been more careful, Dave.
AtS: Activate the Script, what you should do, always. The abbreviation doesn't exist; there's no need, right ?

Thanks for your inputs friends!
I am updating the first post regularly and I hope that the LOA would turn out to be a useful tool in reducing the number of posts asking for an explanation of SSTKOTtI...

Re: LOA, or List of Abbreviations
FTW can also mean For The Weak.
-
Re: LOA, or List of Abbreviations
FTW can also mean F888 This Widget.

Re: LOA, or List of Abbreviations
One thing I´ve seen a few times now that 1.1 is out is the Pahlava living up their history and becoming a true superpower. I havn´t seen any name for it yet, but the "Purple Death" should fit nicely.
-
Re: LOA, or List of Abbreviations
Purple Death could also refer to the Sweboz.
-

I'd rather have "Dry Blood Flood" for the Sweboz
it conveys that kind of gruesomeness that fits to those dwellers of the North

Pink swelling?
Brown flood for the Getai?
And surely Black Death works better than Black Plague for the Maks (not that I've ever seen it in my campaigns... unless that's my faction)
-
Re: LOA, or List of Abbreviations
Black Plague has been used in at least 2 cases, so it has a precedent.
Brown Flood works well, but „pink swlleng”??? You gotta be joking me, Purple Death ftw!
Proposal - Carthage: Anthrax Epidemic.
