Re: Maintain an Alliance.
That seems an impossible aliance. The Senate is gonna break it for you because the Brutii is bound to attack them, regardless of the fact that both of them (Brutii and Greece) are your allies. And you can't choose whom to support because the choice is already made for you.
Re: Maintain an Alliance.
Yup. The roman super alliance conquers all. Actually, the greeks are a really bad ally anyway, as they get steamrollered really quickly
Re: Maintain an Alliance.
not these Greeks. While i was helping the Bruitii in taking the Macedonian capital, and than after that least a few turns later i took Athens, and gave them to the Greeks as a tribute. The Bruitii left the Greeks alone and i failed to comply with the Senates request to blockade Greek ports, but so far the Bruitii havent attacked the Greeks yet. But i am close to getting enough populas support to attack the SPQR. oh yeah and also im doing it on E/E since its my first time playing in such a long time so im just trying to get my feet wet again.
Re: Maintain an Alliance.
I don't remember any campaign which the Brutii doesn't attack Greece, except when I intervines directly. You say you have nearly enough support to attack SPQR, what years is it in your campaign and how many province have you got, what's your currenlty situation?
Re: Maintain an Alliance.
got 11 regions and its winter of 250 BC
Re: Maintain an Alliance.
Hello everyone, this is my first post on these forums.
I can tell one odd thing about greeks. I play on very hard dificulty with Scipii. I've already got whole Iberian Penisula and Norther Africa without Alexandria and Thebes (those cities belogn to Egyptians, but will be bought soon, coz my treasury is about 200.000 denari :).
In my game greeks control whole Asia Minor and they are allied with egyptians. Brutii went North and now are taking out the most northern town on the map. They were pinned down by macedons, though that fanction controls only few cities :)

Welcome, senpuu! ~
Yea, the AI is pretty unstable from what I know it dosn't always do the same thing. Like one time I was playing as Thrace and the werid thing was Brutii conquered Sicily and Carthage.
:focus: - As for keeping the alliance with greeks that's pretty much impossible because of are senate friends but this has already been said. Although if you wanted to go to war with senate and the other families you could use the greeks as a strong alie aginst Brutii. You'll just have to give them alout money.

GermanW -
If you can maintain an alliance with anyone for an extended period of time in RTW, more power to you. In my experience, the nature of the AI tends to be of fickle loyalty. I will say except for the Roman factions alliance network, the most faithful alliance I ever experienced was with the Greeks when I was playing as Carthage. I allied with the Greeks after the Scipii took Syracuse. The Greeks were remarkably friendly toward my Carthaginians. Their navy often gave mine an assist against Roman factions. I think I maintained the alliance for almost two full decades (40 turns). But it eventually fizzled as my armies came closer and closer to the Greek faction's remaining cities on the Greek peninsula.
It appears to me that owning terrirtory physically proximate to your ally eventually kills the alliance except between the Roman factions.
I've had very friendly relations with the Greeks playing as the Seleucids also. But eventually, there too, they stabbed me in the back. Treachery just seems to be the rule in RTW.
I think I once had an extended alliance with Scythia that never died when I was playing one of the Roman factions (can't remember which one.) But I think the only reason it didn't fizzle was that I never took any regions contiguous to their provinces.
Believe me, I've tried being Mr. Nice Guyus too. I would give regular monetary gifts to my allies, sometimes 5-10,000 denarii if my cup runneth over with funds. But even in RTW, money can't buy you love. :laugh4:
Anyway, rots of ruck!
Re: Maintain an Alliance.
The Best Alliance I have been able to forge has been with Macedon in eradicating greece. But like Guyus said once I came close to their territory allegiance wasn't with me.
Re: Maintain an Alliance.
yeah you try stay friendly, but the only way i found was to give tribute, but that lasted 4 about 80turns
