M2TW armor upgrade system messed up--Can it be fixed?
Atm, M2:TW armor-ratings seem to be set up this way in EDU:
Light Mail counts as 4 or 5 armor, heavy mail as 7, partial plate as 8, full plate as 10, and advanced plate as 11.
I am very annoyed that the armor points for my units are only upgraded ONE point for each armor upgrade I get. For example, my spear militia wearing HEAVY chain mail (gold armor upgrade) have THREE armor whereas they should have 7.
I tried to edit this in the EDB file but it appears I can't. Changing the armor upgrade level for each smith building just makes it so that building upgrades a different type of armor. For example, I editted the blacksmith building to "armor 5" but now it justs upgrades plate armor one point rather than upgrading padded armor to light mail armor and giving the unit a 5 armor rating.
Is there anything I can do to change this? Or must I rewrite the stats for every darned unit in EDU so as to balance all their stats to armor?
Sorry if I was ranting, and thanks in advance for the help.

Actually the amount of armor they get is correct, just the display of it on the unit card is wrong.

Good news! Thank you very much, that puts to rest much of my annoyances.
Since the armor rankings do indeed appear to be scientific, is there a list somewhere of the precise armor bonus each type of upgrade gives?

Check the Citadel. There should be a thread from 2006 or early 2007 which has it.

There it is. Good stuff that.
One more question: Is there any way to change those base levels (e.g., increase or decrease the default armor value of a particular type of armor). I would like to see a larger gulf between leather armor and plate.
