[Help!] A plea for modding help.

After several, if I may say it myself, daring attempts at modding my EB I can safely say that it has only resulted in many reinstalls of EB on my computer. Now I'm asking.. No, I'm pleading for help. As some of you might have noticed not too long ago I asked for instructions of how to add units to a certain faction (Arche Seleukeia in this case, since I'm completely in love with them). The problem is, no matter how hard I try I cant get it to work. With fear of sounding dumb, its simply too many numbers/lines etc to keep track of, for me atleast. (TA should have big thanks in helping explain how adding units etc. work though.. Even if I cant figure it out :dizzy2:) So now I ask for anyone, to help me add some units to the Arche Seleukeia. I'm afraid I dont have anything to give in return except for my gratitude and (Hopefully) an upcomming AAR. Now, wich units do I wish to add?

If possible I'd also like the Seleukids to recieve the FM Bodyguard "Cataphract-reforms" as the Baktrian does. If possible, tying in the Pezhetairoi Hysteroi to the same event (March of Time) would be very much appreciated aswell! I'd also like to change the Eastern Mercenary General to the Babylonian Heavy Infantry, Shipri Tukul, if possible. I'm not sure what different Merceneray Generals there is, but if possible, I'd like them all on foot. The reason for this is beacuse I never use Mercenary Generals, only Client Rulers (And infantry is far superior in defence in my opinion, aswell as for roleplay aspects)

Now, I know it's alot to ask for, but since I'm unable to mod it myself, I thought I might aswell ask for help, hoping that some kind soul out there will help. Even if you're only able/willing to incorporate one unit, I'd be forever gratefull :smash:. Oh, and if there are problems with model-sharing etc, please let me know, and I'll remove the unit/s from the list if they're unable to add.

As for adding units to said factions roster, have your tried looking here?

Hm, I suppose I'll just give it a new shot then. I'm mainly interested in adding the Galatai Kleruchoi to Ankyra, due to my desire to create a Galatian Allied Kingdom composed only of Galatians! (Perhaps not historically correct, but funny!). Was thinking of doing the same with Hayasdan (Client kingdom with regional troops, but I suppose I'll just skip them altogether.. Would still be interested in some of the Indo-Greek units though :smash:).

I'd still be gratefull if someone could help me change the Client Rulers/Merc generals to infantry units. Eastern ones = Babylonian Spearmen, Hellenic Ones = Classical Hoplites... And to be honest, don't know what other Merc Generals there are.. But preferably infantry! :juggle2:

It's quite easy actually. I've done the with the Makedones in my EB folder, addingquite a few AS units, as well as expanding their AOR. I've also created eastern ''imitation legionaries'', using the Pontic Thorakitai unit model and UI images, tweaking the unit's description and stats and giving them the legionary fighting style.

Now for adding a unit to AS, let's say the Spartiates, you have to do the following;

1) Go to EDU (export_descr_unit.txt) and search for ''spartiates''. On the bottom line of the unit's stats, add romans_julii next to greek_cities (so it should be greek_cities, romans_julii).
2) Go to DMB (descr_model_battle.txt) and search for ''spartiates'' again. Now copy every line that says greek_cities 50 something and rename it to romans_julii 50 something.
3) Go to UI and search for ''spartiates'' in both the UNIT_INFO/GREEK_CITIES and UNITS/GREEK_CITIES files and copy every file to the corresponding ROMANS_JULII one. Now the Spartiates should be playable in custom battles.
4) Go to EDB (export_descr_buildings.txt) and search for ''spartiates'' again and copy the whole line. Now go to Seleukid/Ptolemaic military barracks (I reccomend the lvel 5 regional one) and past the line above or under any other unit entry. The only thing you have to do, is replace { greek_cities, } with { romans_julii, }. Now you can recruit Spartiates and in the same way any other unit for the AS.

Thanks Maion. I'll give another shot at adding a few units and see how it turns out. Is adding units save-game compatible? By the way, the method you described, does it include regional recruitment?

Oh, and if someone knows how to change wich unit the Client Rulers/Merc. Generals will use I'd be extremely grateful! :smash:

this would be a hellenistic general with spartan hoplites, obviously it can be changed accordingly, though if your faction cant recruit that unit you'll have to add them.

This is how i changed my greek generals to having spartans and it worked for me.

And that is all? No need to set models etc? If so, then it'll be pretty easy I suppose.
