A possible solution to the Log in problem?

I realise there are probably many threads on this issue (perhaps there should be a sticky?)
Everyone is having problems loging on V 1.03 with gamespy we all get the message failed to log in followed on the next attempt by "Unable to connect"

My advice is to keep trying it can take up to 20 attempts but be patient and you will eventually get in

The only solution i can see to this problem is if the MP community collectivly decides to use one of the available mods EG Retro or Stainles Steel 6.1 as there does not appear to be any solution or communication regarding the Log in issue

I realise that not everyone has kingdoms but i remember when the MTW community moved to Viking Invasion and that seemed to work well

Does anyone support this idea and if so perhaps we can start a campaign to get everyone playing the same game

Strange....I have tried three times in the last half hour and have logged on first time each time.
(About twenty people online atm.)

Hmm interesting are you using Kingdoms?

The strange thing is mods and the Kingdoms expansion pack games eg Crusades log in straight away but the original M2TW v1.03 takes many attempts for me and many others (just look at some of the previous posts)
I have written to Gamespy Sega and CA about a week ago but still no response to this issue

No. Original M2TW v1.03
I do not have Kingdoms installed on my pc because of the SecuRom problem.

I have kingdoms
As we speak i am helping someone in the lobby with exactly the same problem it is stopping many new people from comming on line its prime time 9.30 GMT and only 25 people in lobby
playing 3 different mods retro and teutonic

I believe this problem is killing the MP game

What is this problem you mentioned with kingdoms please can you provide details

Log in problems nowadays are smaller.

Myself and many other people seem to have log in problems
Perhaps it is the gold edition game i have or perhaps its vista?

PS nice to see you still around Paoli & Krook do you ply M2TW ?

Having owned Med II for almost a year now I still can’t play online. I thought I had resolved all the issues concerning logging on gamespyId and CD key. I found out now that there are also issues concerning routers now too.

I am familiar with one other friend who also can’t play online due to the same difficulties.

It’s too bad it was over engineered. I only play Rome:TW online until it becomes possible to log in.

There shouldn't be a concern with routers. In the Medieval2.preference file the port is already allocated....

If there is a router problem how do you play RTW online?

The loggin seems to be very erratic.
I have only managed to loggin twice in 17 attempts as a test :juggle2::juggle2:

This would be enough to put new players off.

It can happen even with Kingdoms, here is the thread the official moderators have asked CA to look into. Although I don't know the status not much has changed lately. I'm going to try several times today since it's my day off to play
