I'm not sure if all the wonder bonuses work correctly. Some I know for certain do work, such as the Pyramids removing a culture penalty in any Egyptian provinces you conquer.
But the Statue of Zeus does not seem to give a +4% loyalty bonus in my provinces. And even if it did, would this actually make a difference since loyalty works in 5% blocks when evaluating whether the population are happy, content, disillusioned, or rioting?
I think the description of the temple of zeus states that it gives a loyality/happines bonus of +4 without the percent. So this sounds like an attribute description in an role play game. My association was actually that it would grant a bonus according to e.g. the overall loyalty of a city. But what I found was that it grants a general bonus of 10%, I think.
Speaking of wonders, I read here quite often that the trade bonus of the colossos wears off over time. Is this true and has there been any research been conducted? I found this very hard to measure, because of the "natural" fluctuation of trade income.
If you look on the settlement data panel when you own the statue, you will find a golden bell and a descriptiom of wonder.
I think the rhodes one is co-incidence as wen your empire expands, you are reduced to internal trading which I think seems less profitable.
Yah, I've also noticed that the Temple of Zeus bonus starts with something like 20%, but goes down to 5-10% or so after a while. I didn't think much of it, it only seemed logical that familiarity breeds-- not exactly contempt, but a certain blase attitude. It happened with the Romans in the late Republic.
Flying Pig: Is internal trade less profitable? I remember Omanes (I think) saying that it's the settlement's inherent trading 'power', not the owning faction, that matters.
I'm sure wonders make everybody empire wide happy for a specific number of turns, but their effect slowly collapses over time by about 5%.I'm not totally sure if this is the case everywhere, but in most cases +1 of something typically means +5% to factor. No matter how low the taxes are, how huge the temples are, and even when i do control the pyramids. Egyptians always revolt against my Empire.
My vast Pontus empire doesnt put up with this anymore though. If any egyptian citys are captured, the populous is immediatley exterminated. :hanged:
Pyramids work fine for me. I don't see how they wouldn't for you. What they do is to eliminate the culture penalties in any city of egyptian culture, i. e. the black and white faces. They do not eliminate all unrest.
It is quite normal that the egyptian cities revolt once in a while, but that is because of their unstoppable population growth and resulting squalor. The Nile valley has extremely high fertility, plus you have two corn resources in vicinity to each other. I never built any farm upgrades there when playing as Egypt but still they are hard to control. So I set taxes to very high and sometimes evacuate the governor and garrison to trigger a rebellion. This reduces population a bit, although sometimes it damages buildungs, too. Just reinstall order in the next turn so the city won't go rebel. At least that's what the Pharao in is divine wisdow would do.:egypt:
There is a happiness bonus for capturing any wonder. That bonus will go away after a few rounds have passed.
There is a global happiness bonus for possession of the statue of Zeus at Olympia. That bonus will remain.
All wonders seem to work fine for me.
But only the happiness bonus from the Temple of Zeus is reflected as "wonder" bonus in the settlement details scroll, right? For example, I'm pretty sure capturing, say, the Colossus of Rhodes or the Hanging Gardens doesn't add the nice "shiny bell" icon in the public order ledger.
No, you're wrong about that, Quirinus. Every loyalty bonus from a wonder does display as nice shiny bells, no matter if it is the Colossus, the Hanging Gardens, or Zeus.
