Why the 150 sec wait when searching?

Why do we have to wait 150 seconds when we're searching the forums? It's just annoying, does it really slow down the server or something if it were to be shortened or better yet, removed entirely?
Exactly what is the point of it other than to infuriate me? :inquisitive:
Could it be removed?

Reduce server load really, and prevent search spamming.
It already gives you no delay if you get no hits ~:)

It is there because it needs to be.
