There would be Panzers instead of Statues, because Panzers won't work without oil, you know.

Now for a better question - what if Rome had oil wells, oil refineries and the logistics to transport this oil where needed, as well as Panzer tanks?

I'm pretty certain that the traffic accidents caused by these oversized taxis would be pretty bad when facing opposing armies.

They could still run over people, I guess they could be like elephants that don't get scared. Also, you might be able to mount a ballista.
